I performed a randomized non-scientific study of Duracell, Kirkland, and Energizer batteries today. An assortment of sizes from AAA- C.

Cleaning up some stuff in the basement, the CEO wanted to move a storage bin of my son's old toys to the attic. The box was full of all of his Hess trucks and assorted other battery powered cars. I thought we had removed all of the batteries years ago but we didn't. I would estimate that everything has been sitting for 5-7 years.

Results of the study were mixed but the majority of leakers were Duracell/ Kirkland. Mostly AA's.

Seems to be hit and miss, I have used Kirkland and they all leaked also did not last long. The Duracell seemed to be OK if bought from BJ's from other locations they leaked? Possible fakes?

What brands, if any, didn't leak?

All 3 brands leaked. The Duracell/ Kirkland AA's seemed to be the worst.

All of the batteries in both pix were removed from toys today. He had a lot of Hess Trucks......

I've always bought Duracell's since Costco and BJ's carry the big packages. Assumed the leaks were the price of admission. Now I'm going to stick with Energizers and see if things improve. I've also gone to rechargeables in high use devices.
