I thought i'd say Hi, I just joined here, My name is Jason

I also belong to the Classic Toy Trains Forum.

I have been tinkering with mostly Lionel Postwar trains for about 2 years,

also some 50s Marx tinplate stuff, I just recently found a fix up project Lionel 8801

Blue Comet that has turned into a DIY sound board install.

I'm not much of a "original box collector" and I dont have a layout, just some track and a floor

for temporary running. I also dont have any modern sound or electronic controlled equipment yet.

 

For the most part I'm happy taking junk box parts and building/restoring Locomotives & cars

that look factory original and run the heck out of them.

I built a 1949 Lionel 671 from collecting nice used original spare parts over the last year.

 

The topics on here have been keeping me interested I'm glad I found this forum!

Hope to post some photos of my projects soon.

Welcome aboard.  The amount of information on this board is daunting, but if you narrow your scope it becomes manageable.  Also, I think some of the "heavies" in our hobby are right on this board and their niches are span all aspects of the hobby, making OGR in my mind the ultimate one stop shop for hobby info.  Good luck.

Welcome Jason!  It seems like only months ago when I was posting about being a new member...... oh wait, that was a few months ago.  Anyway, this is a very informative place.  Also, there is always somebody willing to help with questions, problems, etc.  Have fun!

After reading Tom's post below, I realized that maybe you'd be interested in my thread about me "fixing-up" my GP-20 (I believe its from '74, if that counts).  Needed e-unit help, a good cleaning (both the motor, and shell), and paint.  You can check it out here if you wish.

One of my interests is similar to yours....fixing/rebuilding/running postwar equipment.
