Wow, great work with the weathering. Funny how real dinged up steel cars can be simulated well with plastic and some heat, huh?
Oh yes yes yes!!!!!!
3 day auction, then I'm taking a break.

Really excellent work! It reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting -- the highest compliment that I can think of for the colors, tones, and textures that you've managed to render.
Thanks for posting, SIRT.

Looks just like some wrecked cars I saw years ago in the yard at Hornell, NY. Very realistic in appearance.

And when your ready to watch eagles fly south, i have a pile in the workshop ready for rust.
Your work keeps getting better and better! Always look forward to seeing what the next project is.
Thanks guys.
Trying to finish the SCL passenger car line up. Lots of unexpected set backs occurred using off brand vendor decals. A 10 day project has dragged out over 4 months now.

Great work.
agreed, great job.
Fantastic.
Man SIRT! You make the best looking stuff I have ever seen. That is an awesome job. I'm curious as to how you got the plastic body to rip/dent/etc... without warping or melting. Slow heat?
1. Dissemble & decorate, reassemble metal floor frame.
2. Wrap shell in a towel
3. Place shell in bench vice
5. Apply heat gun
6. Push heated plastic area in with a stick
7. Cut opening using a Dremel tool with disc.
8. Re-install roof walk, add block supports, touch-up decorations and spray with dullcote.
Steve, Simply outstanding !!!!!!
Thanks,
Alex
Some of us have come a long way...that stuff is still state-of-the-art on my layout
Looks really good though. Always admire your work, even if it's not a look I would go for myself.

I've actually got two damaged boxcar shells and I think I know what to do with them now...

Good enough to use for a movie prop.
