I wish this could happen but i dont think it will anytime soon...
Out of curiosity, when they showed off the prototype at York, how was it talking to the Legacy base?
There was an adapter from the serial port. And I wouldn't count it out yet...
If you haven't seen it yet, here's a demonstration video I found.

Pretty neat but how is it communicating with the Legacy Base? I don't see any cables attached to the phone (or, is someone lurking off camera using a Cab-2 as he pushes the buttons on the phone).
If that is communicating to the Legacy base via some wireless protocol...pretty nice!
All wireless.
Now we just need an Android app.

You mean Blackberry App! Just kidding... I'd love it!
Thanks,
Mario
Where do you get the app & what else is needed to make the wireless connection?
Thank You
Ken
The etrain software does this for the Cab1 but not legacy stuff. The guy that wrote it has an app for the Android phone that will work with the computer software. The problem with legacy is the 9 bit codes are not published and are copyrighted so the app has to come from the big L. I would think it works the same way. A web interface with a computer wired to the command base through the serial port.

It's not available...yet. Last I saw it was when Jon Z was at York a few years ago and then on the video. I've heard a few mentions of it but have not seen anything since I seen Jon.
You can use your iPhone right now to control TMCC trains.
What you need is a computer connected to the command base with a serial cable.
The computer also needs to be connected to a home WiFi network.
Install and setup JMRI on the computer: http://jmri.sourceforge.net/
Install WiThrottle app on your iPhone: http://jmri.sourceforge.net/he.../UserInterface.shtml
Sounds easy right?
I still haven't tried it yet.
Only if they are being run via a TPC using the Lionel TMCC.
There is no computer interface into the TIU that is available for purchase at this time.
