I met with the Bachmann reps at Trainfest in Milwaukee this past weekend. They had all of the versions on site and running on the EZStreet module. The rep said that two of the cars will be in stores by the end of this November.

The police car was getting the most attention from hobbyists, according to the reps, followed by the taxi. I was hoping that the cars were going to have operating headlights and that the police car would have an operating red light on the roof. That is not the case, but I'm sure we can put our talents to work and modify them!

Overall, the models looked nice and functioned very nicely.

I'm trying to think of what else I would like to see in this line.  The sedans pretty much nail it.  I wouldn't mind a stubby 50's dump truck or tractor/trailer similar to what Lee has made.  And his custom 50s/60s buses are great, they would do well to copy those.  Maybe a Divco?  The vans were never the right era and neither were the huckster trucks.  How k-line ever came up with those selections, I'll never know.  haha

Sorry to hear that Charlie,  I had a little different experience.  UPS ground coast to coast is about as slow as it gets.  A package was shipped last Saturday from Florida, I got it by noon Monday with priority mail.  UPS ground would have been all week. I have known several UPS sort facility workers- the stories of how they handle packages on the sort line is scary.  I know when the boxes get heavy and over 12 inches on any one side  priority gets pricey and I end up using UPS ground.  USPS insurance claims are impossible to deal with.  UPS is better if the packing meets their standard.  They all have their pluses and minuses.

Looking forward to the car I have been a fan of EZ streets for a long time.

Lee, I think the cars are perfect for modification. I briefly looked at my taxi last night and it appears the chassis is actually 2 pieces (front back) that overlap and are held together with screws.  I have not confirmed this but it appears the wheelbase can be  increased by about 3/8" or possibly shortened.  I guess this was done to allow the option of other vehicles in the future.

I assume your workbench will look like a chop shop by the end of the week!

Lee and All,

Just received a taxi.  As Bill said, these look perfect for modifications.  Here's a few pictures.

Three screws hold body to frame.  Tire diameter is approximately 5/8".

Center rail pickup roller and motor mounting much improved over Superstreets.

Taxi wheelbase is approximately 2 3/4".  Screws to adjust wheelbase are on left and right side right behind seat assembly.

With dash and seat assemblies removed, wheelbase adjusted up to approximately 3 3/16".  Adjusts in increments of approximately 3/16".

DSCN0133

Shortened to a minimum wheelbase of approximately 2 3/8".

Whether you run them stock or modify them, these were worth the wait.

Willams by Bachmann - Well Done!

Looking forward to seeing Lee's and other's modifications.
