Anybody ever repaint Lionel containers? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I'm talking about the 48ft variety from the husky stack cars. Was it hard to do? We're you able to remove the door handles and details on the end, then sucessfully reattach them afterwards?

I was thinking to repaint some of mine white with the yellow doors, then decal to 1990s jb hunt.

I have painted many of these- I've always painted the entire container, then taken a small brush and did the silver details on the door separate- worked great

This Atlas trailer likely was a project similar to what you plan. The door hinges are press fit into the trailer side and could be gently removed. I then used a push pin from inside and was able to push out most of the pins for the door detail hardware so that I could paint the doors. I carefully masked off the silver hinges.
