I've been looking at
Z-Stuff DZ-1010 Crossing Gate & Signal Set
and am wondering if anyone has these on their layout. If you do, are they reliable? easy to install? Thanks

Good question.....I am just getting back into the hobby so would like to see what ogr. members say
I have the DZ1010 operating on my layout for over five years. Always works it gets heavy use on the dual track main. Amazing how reliable it is. Even after getting hit by derailment.

AWESOME......Thx Clem
Yes, and they are great! I have the two DZ-1011's that come with the DZ-1010 set, plus two DZ-1050's to provide detection to two tracks as trains approach from either direction.
In the following video, you can see the crossing gates in operation at 3:18 > 3:58.

Z-Stuff, GREAT products and VERY helpful folks !!!
I still have mine in the box... will have to break those out and get them working!
Alex,
Great video. Beautiful layout. I also wanted to see the z-stuff gates in action. I was debating between the gates and stand alone flashing cross-bucks. I may recommend a set of each for our club layout. We installed six semaphore signals, four target signals and a semaphore signal bridge all from z-stuff last year and they all work great.
This year we will address some of the grade crossings and z-stuff looks like the top contender.
Thanks, Jim!
A question I have: Are there any of these DZ-1010 Crossing Gate sets available anywhere? I have looked online, and they seem to be out-of-stock everywhere, which has been the case every time I have looked for quite sometime.
Alex
Alex,
Have you tried Ross Custom Switches for the DZ-1010 sets?
Bob,
The RCS website shows them, but no information about availability, so I called them. The gentleman who answered the phone looked for 'that box' for a few minutes, but couldn't find it. He advised me to call later in case it shows up. This leads me to believe that they do not have an inventory tracking system, but who knows - they may have one of the DZ-1010's . . . somewhere.
Thx!
Alex
I have a set of DZ-1010 and DZ-1020 that are still in their boxes as well. It will be a while before they get installed.

I ordered the DZ-1010 from RCS before XMAS. Their website showed stock and I received it in about a week.
My semaphores act up, and not sure why. Sometimes they just keep going up and down with no cars to trip the sensors. In the beginning, they worked as a pair and did an incredible job. But a year later, they act up.
Panhandle 1.0 (now just a memory) had Z-Stuff switch machines (DZ-2500C and DZ-2500C) and 4 DZ-1008 relays for the MTH PRR signal bridges. The aforementioned DZ-1010 and DZ-1020 crossing gates / signals were never installed.
Panhandle 2.0 will have 33 switches, 2 DZ-1010s, 1 DZ-1020, 4 DZ-1008s, and 3 switch buses (DZ-2001s).
