I look at airport beacons all day at work, and on a clear night sometimes see dozens at a time.  Since different types of airports use varying colors (green/white-civil, green/yellow seaplane base, two whites/green-military etc) it’s mildly irked my inner perfectionist that the 394/494 rotating beacon displays green/red.  Santa Claus May have a private use airport, but until I get permission to land there I’d like to change my beloved 394 to a white/green pattern.  My mediocre googling skills, and forum searches have mainly come up with ordering the correct size from China on eBay...

For $2.00 from Just Trains, the 3520 lens is available.  I’ve also read the 299 code transmitter uses this lens.  Although these are not a fresnel lens, I think clear instead of red will satisfy my OCD.

Thanks for any input the group may have.

Interesting...

One would think they’d be a nearly identical casting, just a different lens pattern.  I’m really surprised the 6520 lens is much heavier...

I have a digital scale that goes down to tenths of a gram, this would probably get it close. Easy enough to balance  while it’s taken apart I imagine.

Knowing full well the reputation of the 394 before I bought it, I liked the more realistic rotational speed while still havingthe bulb fully bright.  The 494 always reminded me of a German Discotheque at 4am when it was cranked up...

Naturally since I tweaked mine to a nice prototypical and sedate 6 or 8 rpm, now I want to change it.

I’d completely forgotten about canopy cement, takes me back to my 1/48 Monogram & Revell days!

Thanks for for all of the tips everyone!
