What happened to Gordon Gebert story.
If his last name was Gilbert instead of Gerbert would it have been an American Flyer set instead of Lionel ?
You guys are good. Don
I'm a little surprised that no reference was made to the updated 1996 version of this movie which starred David James Elliot and Cynthia Gibb. I enjoyed this one better than the original, with the later version featuring Lionel's Amtrak set with F3s, aluminum cars, and TMCC.
My knee-jerk response was Kurt Russell. I never heard of the "Holiday Affair" movie before.
I wonder what that train set would fetch on the market today, should Mr. Gebert ever decide to sell it? It certainly has crossover appeal with both movie memorabilia and train collectors.

Gentlemen,
I have never seen the movie Holiday Affair, will have to get a copy and watch it.
As for the Russell & Kilmer both played their parts in a tops shelf manner, and Charlton Heston played Henry to perfection. Tombstone was accurate beyond belief.
Seldom does Hollywood ever make accurate films, Russells historical research on this film was just incredible, Kilmer studied Doc Holiday so intently that even Heston complemented him for his historical acting efforts, and man that is one big time complement for any actor to receive. From a man who had few if any equals as a man or as an actor.

The original "Holiday Affair" with Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh, Wendell Corey and Harry Morgan is one of my favorite Christmas movies. It is very hokey but I don't care, it's Christmas and it has trains!
"Holiday Affair" The second one is on YouTube. Part 1 to 9. There are some excellent Lionel train shots in this one.
