I picked up a couple of these coal trucks for the coal company im trying to build. Give me something to do while things are drying.I want to weather them and decal them but not sure where to start. The only thing that comes off are the front grill chrome pieces.

Has anyone here have some pics of ones they did (cars -trucks etc..)and give me a brief description of how you did it?

Thanks

Hi Patrick,

Here are a few. Mostly, I just try to dull the finish and add some variation in color. I'm not a big fan of heavy rusting.

Repainted with flat finish craft store acrylics plus some weathering powder.

Sprayed with Testor's Dullcote, followed by an ink/alcohol wash. The alcohol reacts with the lacquer Dullcote to produce a whitish, faded look.

Flat finish acrylics again:

Flat finish plus powders. Could still use some additional painting of detail and trim :

Some really nice pics!

Thanks for the tips guys ,

So if i decide to change the red Cab color before weathering. What would be the steps taking for prepping . Dullcoat good enough base?  Scotchbrite then primer?
