anyone weathered diecast car/truck pics?-need some tips

Here are a few. Mostly, I just try to dull the finish and add some variation in color. I'm not a big fan of heavy rusting.

Repainted with flat finish craft store acrylics plus some weathering powder.

Sprayed with Testor's Dullcote, followed by an ink/alcohol wash. The alcohol reacts with the lacquer Dullcote to produce a whitish, faded look.

Flat finish acrylics again:

Flat finish plus powders. Could still use some additional painting of detail and trim :

Sometimes it is best to cut them apart.  Although this is not weathered, it was painted.  It was just easier to disassemble rather than mask.

Yes, Ted. It's done with acrylic paints and baking soda. Brush a little paint on, sprinkle it with baking soda while the paints still good and wet. Let that dry. Then go over it again with washes of paint. I pretty much use raw sienna, burnt sienna and maybe a little brown oxide paints. Maybe a little I/A.

You mention removing the chrome raditor parts.   I think they should be painted either body color or black or white.   some antique photos might show you.   Working trucks probably did not have chrome, but did have the same radiator covers I think.

This was done with chalks and dry brushed paint.

Painted with an airbrush and Flouqil paints. Probably a heavy dose of weathered black. Followed by some earth and mud. Basically you want to tone down the shine on the chrome. I probably got a little carried away.

heres 1 (have 3) I picked up on the bay.   its a tootsietoy dump body mated to the revel fuel truck cab.
