It's a wrap. The use of wraps for decorating equipment in special liveries is a popular practice in the UK.

Thanks, Bob....I thought so. Here, both CTA and METRA wrap some passenger equipment for advertising purposes, and it can be very attractive, if the ad is not too garish.

Although I posted pictures of it when it was first unveiled some time back, 91111 is not the only Class 91 decorated with a military theme. Sister locomotive 91110 is liveried in commemoration of the Battle of Britain. It is named "Battle of Britain Memorial Flight." Needless to say, these two locomotives have become favorites of UK train watchers.

Very cool! I like the Hurricane and the Spitfire on the side. I also like that bomber, a Lancaster. I have a Corgi model of one of those. The Dakota would be the C-47/ DC-3.

   I agree very nice tribute by the British people, our Independence Train is hardly seen any more, it traveled with the US Constitution & other historical documents prior to the Obama Regime.   Maybe it's time to put her back out there again!  Our US citizens line the tracks to watch the freedom train, when they know it is coming thru.

What a great tribute to UK's military past and their veterans.  Looks like there is more patriotism on the other side of "the lake" than here though our local Veterans Day parades were huge.
