Are the newer Lionel scale work caboose same casting as crane boom car?

I would like the PP&L unit... comments?

I have both. They are the same. As far as I can tell anyways.

Yes, they are. The shed part unscrews from the bottom.  I added ERR tmcc inside so I could add tmcc and sound to a dockside engine. The work caboose is tethered to the engine. 

I managed to pop the glue loose holding the roof on. You could add small magnets similar to the crane car roof if you wanted to be able to remove it.

I am thinking of a project along the lines of the work caboose.  What are the dimensions of the building, length, width, height at the sides and peak of the roof. Many thanks.

I picked up two of these since I posted on the thread, the PP&L I wanted and a TCA one.

I can get you the demenions in the morning if that helps.
