If they are, you are a very lucky man. This hobby is really too good not to share. Not to mention just how much help they can be.

Yesterday morning I was involved in a computer project and the house was very quiet. After awhile, I went down to check on Elizabeth and there she was, on top of the benchwork adding the second coat of white paint. She wanted to surprise me and finish it before I noticed.

I know how to pick um.

Kay is very supportive and knowledgeable about models in all gauges including live steam (gauge one). Kay has ridden in the cab of the J at mainline speed and also 4501 and 722. We have ridden Southern and NS steam excursions over a 20-year period from 1974-1994.

We even own our own depot/home at Bear Creek Junction near Robbinsville, NC on the former Graham County Rail Road.

NEVER had to "sneak" trains into our house!

My wife Liz, knows more than about Post War Lionel than most anyone we meet.  She even got me into trains many years ago!!!.  There was a time she could not be let loose at York on her own.(spend to much)  Only problem is some of our biggest arguments have been over trains.  She is a Post War Lionel man.  When we started to build our new layout she wanted to stick with Lionel tubular track and switches.  I wanted to move on to Gargraves and Ross.  Which we did.  Well WWIII is still going on over that which was 9 years ago.  Her interest in the layout has waned ever since and is still a source of irritation between us. I like Hi Rail effects especially scenery.  She would rather use painted plywood and thats it.  Oh, well.  We still love each other after 44 years but there have been moments I would rather forget(train disagreements).

Not at this point.  I think she thinks I'm a little crazy, as my interest in model railroading had lay dormant for years until around Thanksgiving, when that Streamlined Polar Express set rekindled the fire.  She's not un-supportive, though I'm not allowed to buy anything until after my birthday at the end of the month.

I'm hoping I can bring her into the hobby somewhat, but I don't think she'll be on the table painting, etc. anytime soon.

My wife Tammie is the one whom cannot walk into a train store and come out empty handed!

we share a love of trains as we both grew up with trains close to our childhood homes.

ironically she was in Pennsylvania railroad territory , while I was in CNW, Milwaukee road, sooline, Burlington route and northern pacific how's that for a mixed venue!!

we enjoy working on layout scenery and hope to get back to it this year last 2 years life got in the way.

now she cares not to run the trains but prefers to be awakened by the steam engines with maxed out laboring sounds and whistles blasting away.

and best part she is my best friend too!

I am not lucky with wife when it comes to model trains .

I did buy her the frosty the snow man set !  She likes that.

At my house , The Dog rules #1 , The Wife #2 & me #3 !

So long as I pay my half of bills , I can buy what I want ! Trains, Computers, & Cameras ( I seem to be hard on my cameras ) .

note :   My wife is crafty as a rock !

Although my wife has never worked on the layouts, she has always been supportive in other ways, such as making sure I have money for train shows, consulting with my regular dealer to see what she could get me, and offering tools and materials from her craft projects.  She even recently said she's glad I have this hobby.

Brian:

Julie doesn't really have any interest in the trains however, she will bring lady friends down to the basement from time to time to see my layout.  And more on the periphery of involvement; I belong to an O gauge club and she enjoys attending our club related social gatherings where she can visit with the other "train wives".

P.S.  What is all that white stuff out the window behind Elizabeth?

I've been married to Paula for 12 years and she still likes me! My wife is very supportive of my hobby and now that the layout is 95% complete she really enjoys coming down to the basement and seeing trains on all four loops running. For my Birthday, Valentines day and Christmas, there is often a train item gift for me. She has purchased a laser cut assembled wood coaling tower, laser cut assembled water tank, a Lionel/ MPC era NYC F3 A/A, some 6464 cars and most of the tablework for the layout. In this family, we both buy what we want and there is never an issue. It's almost over, so why not have a good time?

When I was married I could not afford a single train engine. Now that I am divorced I own my house and I own some trains. Now all I need to do is get my butt moving and get my Layout up and running 98% of the bench work is now complete.

So all of you guys know you all have great wives  & some times I am jellies but then I remember my ex wife and all is better.
