Hello all I have just completed bench work for a long around the room layout in my basement.  I have a couple of areas in the layout I would really appreciate any comments or suggestions on how to maximize the amount of trains, action and scenery I can add.  Below is a picture of the SCARM layout, all bench work has been completed but I am gun shy on really trying to nail the two main areas 1) 11' L x 6' W area in the top right by Roundhouse and Turntable and 2) 4' x 6' on the other side of the room where I hope to have a return loop and yard.  I have settled on the Roundhouse location but everything else is open to your all creative minds.  Consider both areas of concern wide open as I am open to any designs, I have three kids so I want to be to run multiple trains at once pref. three.  I have done the classic rookie mistake of way over buying on accessories, bridges and buildings so I am trying to really nail final design before rest of track goes down.  Any suggestions or designs are greatly appreciated, I am using all Gargraves and Ross Switches.  Like to have a O-54 loop & 0-42 loop in 11' x 6'.  Access areas I will design in later especially the top right corner of layout, SCARM file attached.  Thanks again... Andy

Looks like a fun layout in the works here Andy.   I like the way you have integrated it into the room.  I have not worked with SCARM but do have a couple of observations.  You may want to consider a reversing loop in the upper right corner to help keep the train moving forward w/o going to the turntable.  Also I don't see a sound barrier on the table itself.  This could be a big plus to noise reduction.  Homoasote 440 is a tried and true way to do that.

Good Luck... you have a great start!
