AT&SF, MY ADOPTED RAILROAD

I, also, did not know that the A.T.&S.F. did not stop at Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I always thought that it did and that is why the name of the railroad contains Santa Fe, in it.

I've also been told that the original AT&SF main line did not go through Atchison nor Topeka, either.  Must be something like the St Louis - San Francisco RR, better known as the Frisco, which obviously never made it San Francisco.

Hmmm...maybe there's something they don't want us to know.

It most certainly ran through Topeka; home of the ATSF general offices and, I believe, the largest shop complex.  When the Ottawa Cutoff was constructed most mainline movement followed the cutoff.

This is like telling everyone George Washington wasn't the first president (He really wasn't but thats a different story). 

They needed a name that would rhyme for the song.

You're right...George Washington was NOT the first President...he was the EIGHTH! 

John Hanson was the first President after we declared our Independence in 1776. 

Washington was not inaugurated until 1789...13 years later.

In the meantime, seven Presidents were in charge of the Colonies, beginning with President Hanson.
