I'm trying to figure out how pickups are mounted on the Atlas 2r mp15dc Blomberg trucks. Atlas doesn't have a parts diagram for this model, and they don't even have a category for it in the O scale locomotive parts listing. I have a 3r version but that of course has rollers and the other lead is attached to the the truck block directly.

I would have presumed it was similar to the sw8/9/1200, as the truck blocks are very similar. However the AAR Type A trucks have two square holes flanking the round hole in the middle of the truck, while the Blomberg only has the round hole and no square holes. The Type A pickups have pins to match the three holes, with the square pins having small barbs to clip into the truck block.

Does anybody have a photo of one of the pickups on the Blomberg truck, or a parts diagram that shows how the pickup insulators mount to the truck?

That is not what I expected at all, but it does explain what the odd recesses and extra holes at the ends of the trucks are for.

I'm not sure that I think much of that solution, it looks far less elegant than the pickups on the Type A trucks. Time to do some ponderin'
