Atlas 6920 Pratt truss bridges.

Trying to install my Atlas 6920 Pratt truss bridges on the layout. I need to connect 3 of these bridges together. When I go to connect them the rails seem to short to lock into each other. The rails measure 40" long. When I try to butt bridges together there is a 1/4" gap between the rails. Any of you guys connect multiple bridges together?
