I just picked up an awesome Atlas UP dash-8 engine, no where in the instructions does it tell you how to turn on the flashing yellow light on the roof. any advice would be great. Mark

I don't believe that is a working beacon. If you're referring to a Dash 8-40B, its just a detail part, no light bulb or LED attached to it.
True. The beacon is just a detail part. Depending on the unit, it should have marker lights and ditch lights. Operation depends on the driver board. There were at least two different boards, TAS SAW Gen2 and EOB.
No markers but ditch lights.

Miniatronics makes a roof top beacon that comes with the board,light,beacon cover and mini slide switch for $13 that work great. These are accurately scaled like the Atlas beacon and they're easy to install.
