Friday I got an email from Mr Muffin stating that he expects to receive the Atlas CZ cars this week and included an invoice for may cars.  I sent the money off to him and went back and read his email this morning.

His last sentence read: "BTW, the Atlas team is meeting Monday to discuss their plan for shipping the F's next month - they must be close to receiving them".

How I missed that the first time is a mystery.  I guess I was so exited about the CZ cars I just blew over it.

Now I have to scramble to  collect my funds for the seven powered and two non-powered F-units.

How do I explain to the family that we are gonna have White Castles for Thanksgiving?

Jack, the price of trains in China has everything to do with eating White Castles instead of fancy foods for thanksgiving especially since a guy has to pay for so many $425 locos

The cost of new tooling notwithstanding, we probably don't want to know the actual price of trains in China (i.e., internal unit-cost per locomotive).  It's the price we pay HERE that has the poor fellow eating White Castles on Thanksgiving!

No, GE didnt make GP40's they made Dash8-4C's and Atlas didn't but they said they would but they didn't and then they said they would again but they didn't then they said they would again but they didn't. I ordered em so long ago I dont even want them if they do get made, the whole deal has left a sour taste in my mouth for Atlas locos but they can make bulkhead flats and cobooses like its nobody's business

Paul, some of us have lost faith on this one. Perhaps an announcement with a little more personal touch using the Atlas mailing list might be in order.  I just checked on my order and I have had three units on order Since July of 2012. I had considered increasing my order but i haven't been sure they would be realized as I love Atlas locos. The detail is incredible and you guys do make a beautiful product.

I actually cancelled my Atlas F3's that were to go with my CZ set because I wasn't sure they were going to come and bough the Lionel Legacy set instead. I wish I had the Atlas locos but I'm OK with my decision but that is how products being delayed and no communication to the customer impacts future sales. I do have an ABBA set of ATSF F7s coming for my GGD El Capitan set. I cant wait to get them.

Good luck with ordering more units, Atlas has not taken any additional reservations for these models since reservations closed after the 2/19/14 re-announcement of there production.

Well hibar, aren't you quite the conclusion jumper. They were in the 2015 spring catalog at which point I had considered ordering 2 more but decided against it as I was and still am skeptical they will get made.

Its not a conclusion 2 years ago when JDs Trains/ AMHobbies went out of business their reservations were shifted to a west coast dealer, I contacted 2 more local dealers and both were told by Atlas that no new reservations were being taken, to my knowledge this has not changed my reservations have been in since the initial announcement in 2010.

Taking a look at the shipping schedule on Atlas' website, it would appear that this shipment is for the F-7s and not the F-3s. I'm on the hook for a set of both, but am personally more looking for my Burlington F-3s to go with the GSC California Zephyr set right now...

Typo on my part, post has been edited.

Even though not indicated on the shipping schedule matrix, perhaps the F3's will ship with the F7's as part of a Chrismas surprise!  Wouldn't that be a shocker -- both literally and financially.

P.S.  How different are the F3/F7 models -- especially from an internals perspective?

I agree, maybe it is time for Paul Graf to jump back in and explain if just the F7's have shipped (as shown in the matrix) or were the F3's also included in this shipment.  I have A-B-B-B-A set of Santa Fe F7's (with three powered units) on order and A-B-B-A set of Western Pacific F3's (all powered) on order.

Since I am expecting the  my CZ WP cars in the next few days I would prefer that the F3's come first.  However, I will take whatever shows up.

Just the F7s have shipped.

As far as the Dash 8s, they will be made.  They are the next O gauge locomotive in the production schedule.  The factory is getting a better handle on production, so we expect deliveries to improve as we go through 2017.  We experienced the same type of issues with N and HO locomotive production, and, while it has taken longer than we would have liked, N scale production is pretty much caught up and HO isn't too far behind.  We hope to have O in a much better position at this time next year.

What about your military cars like the troop sleeper (3007700)?
