Does anyone have knowledge of the quality and other differences of the early Atlas 36" 2 rail flex track versus the current 40" 2 rail flex track?

I think the older stuff (made in Austria) was a little "stiffer" and easier to work with. The newer, China-made track just seems a bit..."floppy". Just my opinion, of course.

The Atlas-Roco flex track was approximately Code 160 versus the Code 148 of the modern Atlas-O flex.

When you say "quality" - myself and others used quite a bit of the "old" Atlas 36" track on a modular layout in the early 1990's, which is still working fine to this day, so the "quality" of the old track is ok (although REALLY old Atlas 36" track uses plated brass rail, I'd avoid that)
IMHO - The appearance of the old 36" track is not as good as the new track, as the old track had European style tie plates, so if I ever build another layout, I would use the "new" only
