Atlas O announced today they are offering the Hillside Structure Kits based on the tooling they acquired from Walthers....

Three buildings were announced:

  • Item #6909 Fairview Farm Dairy - 9” x 11” x 8 5/8”
  • Item #6913 Ace Feed & Supply - 13 1/8” x 6 3/4”
  • Item #6915 Riverton Station - 13 1/2” x 7” x 5 1/2”

Each are offered at $59.95

These are great buildings and the Dairy is particularly well suited for kit-bashing.

Seems as if we went from not very many O gauge buildings and kits to many quality buildups and kits from various manufacturers! Love it!

I agree we have more choice today for structures.....not yet 10% of what HO has but better than it has been.

I'd like more kits like DPM modular kits. A Art Deco style system could be great.

It's good to see those back finally. There was a kit-bash project where you used four of the Sure Sweet Feeds building to make a large packing house. Finding four of those on eBay at a reasonable price was impossible. The Golden Valley Depot is a nicely sized building. It would be nice to see the Fairfield Depot kit make a comeback as well.

Good job Atlas.

This is really good news for those who prefer kits over build-ups. I hope Atlas continues to release these Cornerstone buildings as kits. What would really be great would be if Atlas would add in the extra detail parts like Walthers did with the Java Hut and the Toy Shoppe. Each kit contained extra windows, doors, and a storefront.

I saw that dairy building at York back in October of last year, the Walthers version. It was in the Orange Hall at the guy's booth who sales building kits that are  built up and super detailed. - $100. I almost bought it, one of those "on the way out the door and headed home purchases." My fiend talked me out of it, noting I has spent enough money.

I think I will have to get this kit. I think I can detail the kit and make it look even better than the one I saw at York.

I am glad to see Atlas finally release them, Now If they would ship their Lehigh & Hudson River RS-3. I've been waiting over 5 years.

They claim it will ship in the 2nd quarter 2016, but every time the ship date approaches they push it back 6 months.  I have not purchased a new locomotive from them in the last 5 years.

I once built a speed shop and called it Hot Rod Harry because when I had full size rods that's what my friends called me.

The building/workshop was a chopped up service station from Walthers from this series.

Sorry I can only find this photo at the moment.

Great kits I liked em. Now I scratch build my structures just as expensive, sometimes costs more than kits, can't win with O scale but to me it's the only scale I would never change.

Hope you enjoyed my little break from the layout.

I'm going to bed now to get some beauty sleep. Goodnight.

Great kits imagine what you could do with half a dozen.

Mr Muffin I want a commission please, in Australian dollars. OK that was a joke I'm laughing.

Thanks Gary.

I found some photos of Hot Rod Harry's and a photo of one of my Rods from the past, sorry for that it will probably get censored out and my two minutes of fame gone! Grin..

Shows how easy you can bash these kits the roof lifts off to show a detailed interior not in these photos I have other photos but don't know where and the model is now packed away in a box, on a base again don't know where my filing system is hopeless!

You can do it.

Roo.
