Atlas SW9 has the electro-coupler attached to the truck, the rest of the pilot is fixed, with a difference in the size of the pilot opening, 3 rail v.s. 2 rail.  The coupler is an interesting articulated,(bends, two locations) design.   Another difference, SW pilot handrails, for a single unit, and MU, Multiple Unit.    A lot of detail, Atlas was good for parts, but that's been at least 15 years ago. ???   KD style couplers, keep in mind, Atlas had their own KD style coupler, mounted to the pilot   ??? I'm not sure, I never worked with the smaller KD couplers.   Electro-couplers were controlled from a Lionel Cab1 handheld remote.
