Yesterday, I got a couple of the new BNSF version. They look excellent in that livery. A remarkable model.
I also have one in the Canadian Pacific scheme, from an earlier production run. Again, an excellent model.
Rick
Last week, I received my 4 Norfolk Southern Trinity cars from Smith Creek Hobbies. Very nice cars! Now i want to get one or two of the BNSF cars, not sure about the Cargill ones yet. I do want to see one in person as I'm not sure if the gray is correct or not. The models look way to light of gray, as opposed to the prototypes that are almost a medium gray in color.
Looks like they're white to me- check it out
Regarding the KCS cars, did anybody notice that on the model, the hopper outlet gates are light gray, but from what I've seen in pictures, the prototype ones are black. Or is it that the real ones are just quite dirty? Not trying to nitpick here, just an observation.....
As Jeff stated, It really depends on which version of the KCS car you find... For example if you watch this video you will see the gray outlet gate
I had several ordered from AMHobbies. JD sent me list of what was ordered. NO CARS! NO MERCHANDISE! eMAILED HIM AND SLOW TO RESPOND and most emails NO ANWSWER. Crapy way of doing business.
Now I have to find a new reliable source that I can depend on.

Try Caboose Stop Hobbies, out in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Call Merlyn D. Lauber at 1-800-642-7012.
Stephen, try calling JDs trains. It took a while for me to get mine as well. Remember one thing, Jeff has to deal with all of his own preorders, as well as all of the ones from AMhobbies. I know he has had to take on some extra help in order to get everything straightened out and shipped.

Both JD and Merlyn are good people. Definitely an adjustment for JD taking on both his own business as well as AM Hobbies.
Just an FYI- JD was /IS at O scale National Convention and had a bunch of stuff for sale!
Jeff of JD's is very reliable and a great guy to deal with too. I picked up my KCS Trinity's from them last week, although I live close enough to their warehouse that I just drove over to get them. While I was there I got to go back in the warehouse and wow is it chocked full of O Scale trains. They have taken on a huge inventory and like prr stated, Jeff's at the Nationals, so I suspect they will be a little slow to respond until they get back and I imagine it will take them a little longer to catch up on shipping.

Instead of taking merchandise to the show, He should have sent what was already purchased!
I also preordered the JD Special run Sunset E7 Wabash. I didn't even get a courtesy notice that they were concelled. Not my way of doing business and not my problem he got in over his head.
Stephen
Well it's good to know Lord NW Hypocrities that you have returned from your world renowned, awe inspiring, mastering business principles 101 instructional tour.
Speaking of running a business poorly, still haven’t been able to find a website up and running for your model train business, Track 2 Hobbies which is still listed as an Ohio dealer on Division Point’s website, but no website for you: http://www.divisionpoint.com/dealers.html so maybe you can enlighten us and post the URL here for interested parties so we can see what inventory you have for sale, or am I simplly overlooking the URL?
And speaking of inventory, are ever you going to respond to those inquiries, posted here and sent to Track 2 Hobbies email address, crineair@fuse.net, in regards to your O Scale inventory for sale?
Try to do as you say Steph… and you won't seem like such a foolish hypocrite.

people are so quick to judge a shop when they may not know the real facts.
Jeff called me Monday 7-16 about suppertime to confirm my preorder with AM hobbies. I received my two Trinity hoppers on Friday 7-20. Great service. Beautiful cars.
Good Day,
I always like a KCS Grain Train!

Swafford

If no merchandise and no phone calls and poor email responses is not bad business, than please explain to me what is since you are mister know it all.PS: All communication attempts was done weeks before the Nationals.
The track 2 name is registered and exclusive to those who spend $35,000 or more a year on trains. My business is for exclusive buyers and I do not carry an inventory. If you fit this requirement, email me with financial background. (This is a requirement!)
If this is not agreeable, please express your opinions to some one who cares.

Soo Nut: It is nice to hear you got great service with a personal phone call, I wish I was treated the same.

Stephen, et al,
Thanks for the comments both good and bad. I expected that there would be some transition issues in taking over AM Hobbies, but even I have been surprised by some of these. The biggest unexpected issue is that I did not receive anyone's credit card information, so I have to contact everyone to get that information before I can ship anything. Sometimes I have to call people numerous times to get ahold of them.
Stephen I tried calling you at both your numbers last week before I left for the O Scale National to get your payment information. I received your last email while I was at the O Scale National Show. But even so, I went ahead and asked my wife to ship your product yesterday without me having your payment information. The UPS tracking number was sent to you Friday evening and again tonight. Since then, you have continued to disparage me on the forum. This is not fair.
I want everyone to know that I will work my *** off to get you what you ordered and will not charge anyone for anything until it is shipped. All I ask is that you have a little bit of understanding and to contact ME if you have a concern instead of flaming me on the forum.
Best regards to all.
Jeff
Jeff:
Thanks for the reply. You say that you called prior to the National is not true. My Phones have no ID record of you calling. Besides both phones can receive messages and you have not left any as I would have called you back immediately. My secretary would also would have forward that message. Therefore logical deduction. not fair is fair as It is the truth and factual. I will try calling you tomorrow. I will not post anymore as you seem to want to solve the problems. I respect that.
Stephen
I have ordered some Trinity hopper cars and 2-rail track from JD's Trains and have been very happy with the response times and with the shipping times.
JD will get my business again. Soon!
I have had good luck with Merlyn out at Caboose Stop Hobbies,in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Jeff at JD trains didn't cause the issue, he was dealt with it and is making the best of it considering issues that come up from these types of buyouts. I understood that much considering my pre-order. It was not seamless but Jeff was able to deal with it and I am very happy. Again, knowing what someone like him goes through demands a little extra patience. And just cause you don't have a record doesn't mean he didn't call. Has happened with my wifes and I phone before with people.
I will have no problem ordering my future Atlas items through him.

To those who have expressed concerns about the Cargill car's paint being too light, I can offer the following info. Compared to the UP/CMO and GATX cars from the previous run, this car's grey is definitely darker. I suppose one might call it a battleship grey. Whatever it is, it looks good to me.
Mr. E. Willers, thank you for your comments regarding the paint color on the Cargill hoppers! I kind of thought that the pictures were just too light, but a first hand look is much appreciated! I have today, placed my order with JD's Trains for 3 of the Cargill cars, plus 1 of the KCS cars.
Just called my dealer and asked if he had anymore of Atlas's new Master BNSF Trinity 5161's, left? Yes, two 2-rail versions... They will be shipped to me, shortly.
I recently purchased two 3-rail versions... I am very impressed with these cars. The 2-rail versions will be my firsts...
I mentioned I have the Canadian Pacific/Soo version. It's a looker, too, but these BNSF pieces are my favorites. The brownish color, really compliments all the fine details.
I, especially, like the round BNSF logo.

A couple photos of the actual cars, sorry about the lighting as we started to get a drop of rain!

The Cargil and the NS cars are very close to the same color, as is the CHTT (UP) car.

Jeff replies once in a while, like you said a poor way of doing business.
The Public Delivery Track is good about working with a person. I bought 2 5161s&found out they had all 4 #s of the private owners I was looking for.
High Country Hobbies is HIGH too. Jeff seems to be the best on track. No offense to any hobby shops here, but it sure puts us modelers in a spot.
Hope this helps.

Mike:I just got 4 #s of Cargill&KYLE&they sure are nice!!
You were interested in my post about modern shelf couplers of the E style,(F would be great too, especially for coal cars),a few months back&I put up a poll on the O Scale Kings website for 2 railers,if you're interested in checking it out along with the other modelers who want these couplers. So far it's 42% for 37% against&22% that don't know what type coupler I'm talking about. I put a follow up article the same day I made the post describing what the couplers are for on the Prototype.
I'd like 2 see someone do some 5161s in the CSX tan color, with the slogon,HOW TOMORROW MOVES.
Thanks,
Al
