I had one and let it go; for several reasons.

  • J's never pulled Tuscan red striped auxiliary water tenders "in service". The one used in excursion service is different than the MTH model.
  • The Tuscan stripe on this auxiliary water tender does not match the engine's tender.
  • By "compatible" I assume you mean plugging the auxiliary water tender into the engine's tender in order to get the coupler and backup light to function. I have tried this with multiple auxiliary tenders and multiple MTH PS2 N&W engines; including Js, As, and Ys. For whatever reason, I have never been able to make this work successfully. 


FWIW, scale wise it looks OK behind the J. The 3rd Rail and Lionel brass tenders (black), look nice and are my favorites.
