I have a K Line B6 from around 2004-5 and one tender marker lite is out.  I'm not sure whether it is a red bulb or LED.  My dealer has had it for over a month now and claims he is waiting for the part.  It is a wonderfully detailed model and I wonder if Lionel used the same tooling etc. for the B6sb they introduced last year and if the lights would be the same?  Any thoughts?  Mine has TMCC and Railsounds and is a great runner.  If it's just a red LED I may try the repair myself.

Thanks, Dan

Thanks John.  Do you have any inkling that Lionel used the old K Line tooling to bring out the B6sb in 2014? Sure looks like it.

Also, do I have to use a ceramic LED or can I use a regular red 2mm LED?

You can use a "regular" 2mm LED if you can find one. Most listed as 2mm are larger at the base. The ceramic LEDs do not exceed 2mm in width at any polnt.

Many manufacturers besides K-Line have used these LEDs over the years. Including Lionel, MTH, and 3rd Rail. Buy extras including green. You can always use them in other places on the layout.
