Once again the National Capital Trackers had a show in an elementary school. Like last year, the show was at Medfield Heights Elementary in Baltimore, MD. Last year was during Science Week, and the Trackers demonstrated electric circuits by way of trains. This year, the theme was "How Railroads Serve Baltimore." Modules featured coal, automobiles, and containers, the three main cargoes shipped into and out of the Port of Baltimore. A passenger station and Amtrak train represented Baltimore's passenger train service.
Older students, grades 1-5, had the opportunity to again run a train around the layout, using Lion Chief.
Was it fun? Look at the photos and see what you think. The show continues Thursday and Friday, April 5 and 6, so all 375 students get to see the display.
Operation Lifesaver will also be there on Thursday, so another post and photos of that will likely follow.
Photos show the kids and their response (permission to use was obtained), the modules, and some of the train action.
Modules like these, for quick set-up and take-down, and for short term display have to take on a "Train layout" look rather than have extensive, complex scenery.
