This Baldwin diesel model also known as the sharknose passenger version of the freight model #BF-16 to the best of my knowledge has never been produced in 3 rail O gauge probably because the Pennsylvania Railroad was the only railroad to purchase this model. So it is most likely that none of the O gauge 3 rail companies will produce it. Sunset Models (3rd Rail) only produces models in road names that actually operated a certain model. The only other current manufacture, Lionel could produce it but would have to do so in other road names so they could do so by issuing them in road names that had the freight version. Is there anyone who would also like to see this model produced in 3 rail O gauge.

Weaver had done the  Pennsy BP-20 in brass.  Limited quantities, 20 years ago.  Big model, A-B set 40".  Rare model, that has held it's value. If you can find one, it's expensive.   Powered A, non powered B pictured, (not for sale).  There was/were Powered B upgrades, by Weaver, and additional A units, at the time.  Pennsy (Long Island RR) used an A-B-A set for passenger service.  History, never worked well from the beginning.   There was a green model also.

The smaller BF 16 was also done by Weaver.

This is the one model I regret not getting as it would have completed my roster of PRR diesels that ended their careers pulling commuters on the NY&LB.

Once the E7 was tried successfully to start replacing the K4s in 1956, it was quickly put back into mainline passenger service.  The PA's came and went fairly quickly but the DR6-4-20's held their own until 1964.  I assume it was due to Baldwin's superior traction motors for all those short distance station shops.  Not reliable enough for mainline operations, but good enough for commuters.

After 1964 E7 came back to the shore for good to later be joined by some of the E8s.

Agreed - very hard model to come across and more than holding their value.

Awesome Beast !!!!

Now that you folks have have mentioned and shown the Weaver Baldwin passenger sharks how about getting Lionel and or Sunset Models interested in producing them. As I should before since only the Pennsylvania had them Sunset Models (Scott Mann) might not do them since he only (so far) produces  model in road names that actually had them, but then again since Lionel, MTH, and Atlas have never done them they would sell will. But for now Lionel would be the only possible company to do them. I would purchase a set each of AA's in Pennsylvania, New York Central, Santa Fe and maybe another road.

Joe Hayter, owner of Weaver Models, offered a second run of the Pennsylvania passenger shark nose units and did not receive sufficient reservations to proceed.

At today's pricing I would estimate that an importer would need to do 100 units minimum at $1200 +/- per unit.  I have seen a fellow who has a 2 rail A unit for sale at the Strasburg, PA meet and can't sell it at something like $700 for several years now.

That’s definitely pretty expensive.  Just like the Krauss Maffei. Definitely cool engines but at 1200$ There will be limited buyers. 700 for a nice secondhand unit seems like a bargain compared to new at 1200.   I don’t remember the Weaver MSRP other than it was pricey.

Since they are out of business, not sure how the copy rights work.  I guess we will find out.

PRR%20BP-20

I have the second one down from top.  Bought it off Weaver's demo track at York for way too much money.  The electronics were a mess (several fixes) so I had Alex_M install full ERR in both.  Runs good now.

I still have all the original TAS command boards (it did run) plus the add on sound board for the B unit if anyone is interested.
