Thinking about purchasing a set from O27 or 15" (max length) Madison/Heavyweight passenger cars. Definitely want the full interior, not the silhouettes. The O27s from MTH (Rugged Rails) appear to be very hard to find as a set as I have with PRR and NYC.  It looks like a few forum sponsors have 15"ers in Lionel, MTH, and even some NOS K-Lines.

The K-Lines appear to be the most attractive based on pictures I've seen but I'm a bit concerned about replacement parts.

Any recommendations from those that own the Lionel, MTH, or K-Lines?

I have both MTH and K-line 027 cars. They are both nice with full interiors.

The MTH are 30-6098 Delaware and Hudson 4-Car O-27 Streamlined Passenger Set from 1998.

I have two K-line sets, LIRR Greenport Scoot, and a couple of Yuengling cars. Both have full interiors, and the prior owner added passengers to the LIRR set.

They are all nice cars and navigate 027 curves just fine.

I should've mentioned this above....my new layout has 72", 54", and 42" curves using O27 (low profile) tubular track, nothing less, and 42" K-Line switches. But I'm sticking with semi-scale/traditional and O27 rolling stock since that's what I inherited and accumulated myself.  15" passenger cars would be longer than anything I currently own, but I've got but the layout will handle them. Thought it might be a nice step up.

Which k line set? Many  of the k line 15" cars are actually scale width and height representing a 60' scale car.

IMO, if you pulling these cars with a semi scale locomotive the MTH Railking cars will look best size wise. They are slightly shorter in height and narrower in width and also have smaller trucks.

Having said that. I run the k line 15" in cars behind my scale steamers. They are fantastic cars that have  more realistic  close coupling than most other brands. Brassures stocks a lot of old KLINE parts should you decide to go with them.

Thanks. Good question.  I was thinking of the K-Line K-4810A Madisons. They do appear to be scale size and, as you point out, that typically means scale width and height, not just length.  Plan is to run whatever I buy with a Rail King 4-6-2 or Williams semi-scale/O27 4-6-4.
