Contrary to a popular miff these cars were in-fact built and delivered to the C&O.  Actually three complete consist plus some extra cars.  And the C&O toured two complete M-1's with consist on the C&O system for two or three weeks.  But sadly they were never in revenue service.

I only have a few B&O & C&O items and I can't find them right now.  However, I was fortunate to tour Jim EuDaly's magnificent  2-rail O scale layout during the 2018 Kansas City NMRA National Convention.  This layout is one of the best in the country.  Nearly everything on the layout is scratch built including many of the engines and cars.  NH Joe

Hello Joe,

What a magnificent layout!!  Do you know if someone has done a review of the layout at anytime?  I'd love to see the writeup and an overview of the track plan.

Thanks!!

Jim EuDaly's son, Kevin EuDaly, is the publisher of Railroad Model Craftsman.  There has been at least one article in RMC  about scratch building steam engines a couple of years ago.  Also, I believe that the layout has been featured in both Model Railroader and Great Model Railroads magazines.  I don't know which issues.  I think that Great Model Railroads magazine may be your best source for a track plan and overview.

Allegheny,

Several years ago the C&O Historical Society was selling a DVD called Jim Eudaly's C&O Layout. It's an hour and 35 minutes long so it pretty much covers everything about the layout. You should check with them and see if they have any more. You can also do a search on You Tube for Jim Eudaly. There are several short videos of the layout.

Thank you Ken for the tip!

I'm a member of the C&O Historical Society for many years now.  They are simply the very best.  I love all of their publications especially the C&O Historical Magazine.  I've saved everyone to date since my initial subscription years ago.

Its the only magazine I feel that is worth saving given the information it contains.  All others I give away.

Rick,

You've done an excellent job at restoring that GP-9 Diesel.  Beautiful paint job inside and out.

Thank you. It was a basket case. Not one wire was soldered and fried everything. The paint used on the shell damaged the plastic and softened it a little. It was originally a Milwaukee Road with orange molded shell. Took some time to get the shell stripped, but the old paint left a bit of a texture on it. Not much can be done with that, so a good primer coat then the paint covered most of it. Numbered it off a photo I found on line of one. Even put the C&O logos on the ends that Lionel never did.
