As I am building up my layout I'm looking to add some fun operating accessories. What are your thoughts on items that provide the best bang for the buck? I currently have a K-Line Barrel Loader, a Lionel Oil Drum Loader, and an MTH Log Loader. All three have really good play value and were gotten for reasonable prices. Next on my list I think will be a pumping oil derrick. My wishlist includes a Gantry Crane and the Culvert Loader/Unloader.

MTH Firehouse.
How about a coal ramp with the companion coal loader accessory.
The Lionel saw mill is one of my favorites and seems to always be a hit with visitors. I even have adults ask a toy actually cuts logs into lumber.
Good luck with your choices and happy railroading,
Don
I have to give another vote for the Lionel saw mill - I picked one up just before the holidays and got a similar response like Don mentioned in that people (helped by the lumber mill smoke fluid) really thought it could have been cutting the logs. Coupled with the log loader that you already have, the bang for the buck of the saw mill is tough to beat, in my opinion. Also, even though it costs more than the saw mill, I'm glad that you have the Lionel gantry crane on your list - I have both the magnetic and claw versions. I strongly recommend the magnetic version over the claw. Mine has been bulletproof for 4 years and is fun to use by all ages. The claw version looks cooler sitting idle, but isn't as easy to use for most people.
