A question for those of you that have multiple MTH 6 axle Premier diesels.  Is the frame size and truck spacing the same across multiple types of locomotives?  For example is the SD60/70 frame length the same as the U30C/C30-7 frames?

The reason I ask is that I have one of the now defunct Big Dawg Originals scale E60 shells that are designed to go an a SD60 chassis.  I've owned this forever, but finally thinking of doing the project.

If the GE frames are the same length I'd rather find a good GE runner as the donor so the trucks are little closer to the prototype.  I realize I can swap side frames, but I have other engineering challenges to figure out.

Looking for any and all input.  Thank you!BDO Shell

Jonathan, that shell is specifically designed to go on an MTH SD60 frame because when we developed it that what we had available. I assumed MTH SD60, SD40 and GE frames are nearly all the same for similar length locomotives. While in real life the E60CP/E60CH/E60MA was 71ft 3”, this model works out to be 1 inch or 4ft shorter, so it would fit on commonly available frames.

I once heard the E60s reused Alco C630 frames.

Like you, Its on my quarantine project list now. The roadblocks I have hit is 1) Where to get pantographs and 2) MTH parts are not so easy to come by, even before this covid mess.

Now if a certain manufacturer were to do a run of these to pull their upcoming amfleet cara ::cough::scott mann::cough::cough you can put me down for buying 5!
