Some interesting news on the war in Ukraine. News articles are saying that sabotage by Belarus rail workers severely slowed the transport of supplies into Northern Ukraine that were critical to the Russian invasion. The resulting lack of fuel and food contributed to the Russian defeat in the battle for Kiev.

Among their efforts, Railway workers and computer hackers damaged the control panel systems that automated train traffic, slowing transport to a crawl.

interestingly (to me at least), Belarus’s most significant action in World War II was their partisan sabotage of their rail system to bog down German movements and allow Russia to drive the Germans out. They call it The Rail War.

The best article I’ve seen on this is in The Washington Post. It’s behind a paywall so I can’t link it.
