None of my LHS carry GarGraves or don't want to get it because they have to buy a whole case, so my question is, where is the best place to buy online? I am needing about 50 pieces of track for my layout i'm about to start and can't really find anywhere through Google. I came across JDTrains and they had everything I need, but shipping isn't calculated in their shopping cart and I dont want to be hosed on shipping costs lol. Picture is for reference of what I am looking at to order. Thanks!

Lancer,
Are you also one that is afraid to pick up the telephone? Try a little one on one, you might learn to like doing so. Who knows, you might receive a little extra savings if you ask?

There're 51 pcs in a case of Phantom Tinplate, wood ties.
Wholesale Trains: $6.37 X 51 = 324.87 + Shipping
$200.01 to $499.99 | $15.15 (USPS Insured) to $25.15 (Insured Box Freight) (except oversize, overweight or mulit-box- additional boxes shipped at actual cost) |
Price per piece with USPS: $6.67 ($324.87 + $15.15 = $340.02)
Price per piece with Insured Box Freight: $6.86 ($324.87 + 25.15 = $350.02)
Ross: $299.95 + $22.00 shipping = $321.95 Total
Price per piece with shipping: $6.31
Take it from somone who has bought a lot of Gargraves track-It's heavier than you think and Ross shipping a case for only $22 is a bargain.
I bought a large quantity of used Gargraves recently and it would've costs a lot more than $22 a case to ship!
Used track is great, but the shipping can ruin the price in the end.
BTW, I don't work for either company, I'm just a thrifty hobbyist. You can make your decision from here.

That's what I did....a few years ago. Aren't they a forum sponsor??? Good choice BTW
I usually just phone call Ross for all my track stuff. they answer the phone!

I recommend Charles Ro from whom I’ve been buying Lionel and Gargraves products for 39 years and have never had a problem. Reasons I buy from Charles Ro:
- he has good prices
- he has very reasonable shipping charges
- his shipping charges are identified BEFORE you place your order unlike one dealer mentioned in several posts above who has been the subject of a lengthy thread on this forum due to unidentified high shipping charges
- he is also a Forum sponsor

That's me too. I have to be, if I want to play the game.
Very revealing numbers concerning Ross and shipping.
Thank you!
I have found from experience that Just Trains in Newark, Delaware has the best price and fast shipping on Gargraves track. Also they are a forum sponsor.

Charles Ro is showing 329.95 for a case of 50 (Not 51 like Ross) + $9 UPS Ground Shipping = $338.95.
Price per piece with UPS: $6.78
But, there's a price difference if you put 50 pcs in your shopping basket.
The price is $347.50. Not sure if CR is giving a slight "disount" on the 50 pcs after you submit order. Recommend you call them if you really want to know. Phones are still great ways to do business.
At $347.50 + $9 UPS Ground Shipping = 356.50
Price per piece with UPS: $7.13
Trainworld: $299.99 for a case of 50 (Not 51 like Ross) + Shipping.
I don't have an account there, so I can't see shipping charges. Maybe somelse does and can give you a total. Or call them.
Price per piece with shipping: ?
What's interesting here is you are actually paying more for less track, you only get 50 instead of 51 in a 'case' with both of the above.
I've looked at a lot of places in the past to buy Gargraves. The cheapest I've found it new is in the details of this thread. Interested if someone knows where I can find it (NEW) cheaper per piece with shipping included. I'm all 'ears' as I said, I'm a thrifty hobbyist.

I'm trying to help the OP find it for the best price including shipping.
All of the above suggestions are great and they all support our magazine and forum!!
Thanks,

Thank you for all of your inputs! Like 86TA said, I am not trying to be biased to one company, was just wanting to know some options and you guys did a great job. Thank you very much!
PS: As some have stated, yes I am one that does not like to talk on the phone very much haha. I did settle with one company and started ordering my track. Hopefully the New York blizzard won't effect shipping time too much!
Ross Custom Switches has a good price on Gargraves by the case.
