I am looking to recommendations on how to best setup the latest Lionel F3 set. I just recently purchased the Santa Fe set 6-85186, 6-85189 and 6-85190. The set as you know has a powered A and non-powered A, an Powered B and the super bass B. My basic question is did anyone who bought this set or a similar set in the other offered road names use a unique id for each engine or did they do it some other way? I am beginning to run out of available id numbers and if there is a better way I would like to hear it.

Thanks,

Ed

Make sure all the screws are tight and intact, I had 2 issues with mine...

1) porthole loose in the box - the place it was located it look like someone in the

factory expect d to put it in myself.

2) went to fix the porthole though shell screws at from were stripped. It turned

out being a pinched wire between the body stud and frame. It appears that

there are very few thread holding th shell.

3) missing screw in fuel tank.  - spare screws in box . I ordered a screw during the

half off parts sale. The other screw may hav been in that place....it look stripped.

I don’t have a clue where it came from.

I would really check everything over before setup.

A club member just set up this set yesterday and used the same ID number for all. Given there is a switch on the B units to turn off the operating couplers you don't have to worry about the B's uncoupling when you hit the R button which would be an issue on an B unit without this ability.

This is the first time I have seen this set in person. Other than the long couplers its pretty impressive in its sound, smoke and lighting. If I had a set I would replace the operating couplers on the B units with dummys and put a scale coupler on the lead A unit. YMMV?

I bought both the 6-85189 powered B unit. engine road number 22A and 6-85190 Super Bass road number 22B (at least according to the write up). I finally got around to opening the boxes and setting up the set. to my surprise B unit 22B does not have that on the engine, but instead has ID no. 33. The other, powered B, does have 22A as it should. Does anyone else who bought this set have the same numbering as I do?  I also had problems with the super bass unit. I found a screw attached to the one of the magnets that held on the hatch. It was also stripped. Took the shell off and found that one of the control boards was just floating and not anchored down, The block tat is was suppose to be anchored to also has its scree hole stripped. Great quality control.
