Hello, I need to learn what I need to do to rework some old 2 rail switches (think they are old pullman) ---maybe just replace? Are any of the new switches being made DCC friendly? Thanks, Bruce in MT. Airy, MD

Hi Bruce,
Allan Gartner's "Wiring For DCC" site has excellent DCC-Specific content:

If you are using an NCE DCC system consider joining the Yahoo NCE discussion group. The guys that hang out on it are very knowledgeable. Your question about "DCC friendly" turnouts is a basic one common to all scales and DCC systems. Here is a link to one of the DCC gurus :https://sites.google.com/site/...cc-friendly-switches

I have a couple of Old Pullman switches. I just cut the rails after the frog to make them friendly! I used my dremel. Some guys here on the forum told me how.
If you lay one next to say an Atlas turnout, you can see where to make the cuts. It would probably be best to place some kind of plastic in there to keep the rails apart. I have mine in a car yard and the rails have stayed open.
I could take some pictures if you need them.
