This is a Walker's Chocolates candy tin, 16" tall with a working clock. Great for the tinplate layouts. This one came from a Home Goods store, but was old stock. Browse the bay and there are some out there.

Sorry about the rotated picture, tried correcting it a couple of times and it insists on laying on the side.

I dressed mine up a little bit.

I found good square cookie tin laying around for a base and painted it brown.

And then drilled a hole through the top. Then filled the inside of the top with "hard as steel" 2 part putty from the auto parts store, and then drilled a hole through that. And made a flag from some aluminum siding flashing. Then I wrapped the flag around a piece of the coat hangar wire. I also carefully put a double wave in the flag, like the old Marklin station flags.

It turned out nice for my European area.

The photo makes the flag pole look more off center than it really is. I just shot a couple quick photos.

Well, when I click add attachments, I get an error window. I'll post this and try using mozilla.

Many thanks Steve for alerting fellow tinplate enthusiasts to the existence of this Walker’s Chocolates Big Ben clock tower. After searching for over a year, I finally found one on the bay and it arrived last week. It's great. After inserting a LR44/A76 battery, it works well. My collection of tin buildings is growing and this clock tower will be the centrepiece.

Incidentally, the 1689E streamliner and 1689T tender came from a 1068E freight set that my father received as a birthday present in 1938. Note it was 220V for here in Australia.
