I understand the allure Black Friday has on many but since I have worked in the retail industry for 35 years I am okay to not go shopping. Since I was not going to go shopping I did something different.
My sister has her first and only child, a girl, who is 3 and she has an older half brother who is 12. He has shown great interest in toy trains and the hobby. I finally got the family to make the drive to my place last night to give him a portable layout, a couple of Lionel trains, some buildings and stuff to scenic the layout, and a KW transformer to power it. The layout is all O27 and he can run two trains at once. I showed him how to use the KW and we ran tinplate trains upstairs last night for some time. I wired the layout with a trailer plug harness so he can unplug the transformer and plug it in for now. I will work with him on teaching him basic electricity and wiring for future train stuff. During the train running my sister mentioned she was going to look for a Brio wooden train for her daughter. I had kept my son's Brio long after he grew out of them and wanted to toss them so they found a new home also.
It felt good to help and promote the train hobby instead of being in the Friday madness.
I just wanted to share, thank you.
