Black prewar 2816 hopper? Rare?

Are they quite rare and valuable? According to ebay they are pretty pricy. A local set has one included. Thanks

My "Standard Catalog of Lionel Trains 1900-1942" by David Doyle says the 816 in black is the high dollar ($1400 - $3500) car. The 2816 in black is valued at ($125 to $425). I always liked the red one the most.
