I have been busy sand blasting and painting models.    Today I have a Lobaugh 3 dome before and during shot and a PSC 40 iced wooden reefer (going to be decaled Rath) for your consideration.    If anyone has a hatch for the tank car---I would appreciate them reaching me via email!

Thanks,

Brad

Hey Brad,

No offense intended, but if that PFE car in the picture (can't make out the details) is the wood side car with steel ends and it's an FM models car why ruin it with the wrong decals?

They are pretty well impossible to find and I've seen folks pay much > $300 for that particular PFE car because it's a PFE car. (Rant off).

Save the Rath's decals for the day in the future when we get Mather reefers and box cars in O scale.  May be a few years but they may be coming.

Maybe we can lobby for some more tank cars too!

Lookin good!

Let me dig out the PFE reefer book.

The nice thing about painting and decaling a brass car is that you can re- do it.  While I like PFE more than I do Rath, why not just paint it however you want, with the thought that you can repaint later?  That orange doesn't look right anyway.

don't get your hopes up - I will look through my tank car junk.  If I have one, it is yours.

I have been traveling and now back; still within the 5 min to 5 month window as stated.

Found a nice sealed pair of All-Nation domes with hatches in one of my project//kit boxes.  Might be able to make you one in resin from that.

Also, located what appears to be an unbuilt Thomas kit for a tank car.  Will wonders never cease and will stuff ever stop surfacing in my shop.  Ok, it's really in the stack of stuff in the hallway outside my shop - overflow issues again...

Ends?  For what brass kit?

I might be pouring RTV for molds later today unless interrupted by family members storming the gates to my shop.  Must make a note to remember to re-stock on hot oil to repel unwanted intruders......

Are you still looking for a hatch for on the one dome?

Got a few cast up in resin if you still need one:

You were going to post what ends you needed for a tank car kit?  I've got a mold for a J&L tank car end that I have yet to play with and I could make a mold for a Thomas kit end after I order more RTV and some resin....

Need car body too--- if possible!

Many thanks,

Brad

Looks like a Thomas//All-Nation.  I'll have to order supplies.

Car body?  You mean the end platforms?

Oh!  So, you need the entire dome & vents, ends, end frames and walkways and center sill, railing stanchions, brake gear, ladders, stirrup steps, grabs, sign holders, straps, dome platforms, etc....

You don't need much, now do you,

I just might have a bit of that stuff about the shop or at least something that you might be able to use to make a tank car out of by the time you reach the end of the road.....

We'll have to see just what's what and give this a bit of pondering.

In the meantime, I've got the replacement hatch you need,

I was hoping he meant diameter, Bob.... a 12' tank might be a tad large given that the wrapper he posted looks to be for a Thomas//All-Nation tank.

And yes, PSC makes a nice dome and the vast majority of other detail parts one might need to scratch together a decent tank car.
