i have most of the dealers who post blatant plugs for their shops blocked and i appreciate the blurred out text in all of their replies, yet if they post a new message i'm still able to see it.
what gives?
thanks...gary

My first question would be why would you do this, but that's up to you...
I don't know what you mean when you say, "...blurred out text in all of their replies..." Have you blocked the individual posters or tried some other method?

I think what he means if someone replies with a quote then he can see the original post. Just a guess.
this may be a new feature of the last upgrade. a while back, text in posts from blocked members did not appear at all with only the message that you could "unblock" them if you wanted to read it, but now the full message appears only the text is blurred with the a similar caveat to "Reveal Post" if desired. in the post i'm referring to, a blocked (by me) member created the topic (which is totally visible), but their subsequent replies in the same post ARE blocked/ blurred out.
frankly i'm here to see if i can help others with questions about tinplate trains and if the situation arises, to seek help from other collectors/ operators myself. i see no value is messages from dealers hawking their goods. i'm not saying others do not enjoy seeing these pseudo-ads, but it is a nice feature that you have the option to block those.
here's a thought, try blocking me and see if what i'm saying is true for you, too. if so, you should be able to see my original post, but this reply should be blocked/ blurred.
this is also why i asked recently if the sub-forum it was posted to could be presented with the topic in the "Recent Posts" column. there are quite a few member who have the courtesy to prefix a post with FS: or WTB:, but it's annoying to see a topic with only a model designation i'm familiar with thinking i might be able to help them with a problem, only to discover it's something for sale.
