Right, my guesses would be:

contrast set high

Temperature of the screen- example left in the sun or hot

locked up processor in a remote- power cycling by removing the battery in theory would correct

cracked screen

general screen failure

Also, just to be sure- you didn't tether this remote to the AIU port in accident right??

Didn't touch there contrast and tried to get to contrast control by mimicking the steps with another handheld, no windows in my basement, screen not cracked and no AIUs.  Looked at the MTH parts for a screen and no parts are currently listed for the DCS remote, but indication of updates coming soon.

Thanks for the suggestions,

no AIUs.

I was not asking if you had an AIU.

The TIU has an AIU port, and if you accidentally plug the tether cable (example when updating the remote firmware- or just using it tethered via cable) and plug into the AIU port instead of the remote input port- the AIU port has 12 volts inside that burns up both the remote and damages the TIU in one quick accident.

I can't get the screen to do that on mine using the intensity adjustment, so it seems it may have a hardware issue.

Not sure what happened, one day fine the next day when I turned it on, blue screen.  If no one comes up with a possible solution I will try swapping out the display to see if it's a display issue or ckt board issue in the remote.

Swapping out the display is a significant PITA, so I'd make sure you have a good display before you put in the time.  There are a couple of possible candidates on AliExpress, but I don't know which of two possible choices are the right choice.

Go to Aliexpress.com and search for item: 3256804837379875

These two look to be the choices, but I don't know which.  I send a message to the vendor asking the difference, but I haven't heard back.
