Hey guys. Yesterday on the "Showcase" I shared some more pics of my Denver Union Station built by Roger, Mike and their team of talented craftsman at T W TrainWorx. I was cataloging some more pics this morning and came across the ones from TW showing the packing of the buildings I purchased a few few ago. When I say packaging, I should say "Crating". I picked these up at York and glad I had my truck that day! Each crate is custom made for the building. My wife Debbie assisted with the "uncrating" since she does not like me using power tools anymore.....a long story.

The building model shows a foundation all around that the bricks are supported on. The 2 -1/2 story Chimney appears to be supported on a thin sidewalk. They should provide you with a wraparound foundation that you can attached to the base of the Chimney.

My issues with TW structures is that TW's designers are great at modeling from photos but lack any formal construction knowledge to know what the photos show and mean; so their stuff looks off to me as a former structural engineer.

Not that that matters really as it's not my building.

Maybe the chimney foundation is below the walkway?

As a former structural designer / drafter for 47 years....I think the building just looks fine and that is all that matters! But then I just made drawings from information the Engineer gave me.

Alan,

if you actually zoom into the photo the entire structure as well as the chimney all sit atop a 1/4” thick MDF base/foundation. The chimney is tab and slotted into the main structure and does in fact sit on the foundation.

Donald, we sure hope you are enjoying your buildings!

Thank you, Mike
