I just received three of these Boston & Maine GP7s, 20-2211, PS1 and after reading up on the troubles of not having a properly charged battery, I tried to avoid the "3 clanks of death" or other problems. I just happened to have 3 BRCs on hand replaced the old batteries with them. One of the locos had a white battery and the other two had blue generic batteries.
Cleaned as much dust from the trucks and scraped off some crud off of the drive wheels. It took a while but got all three working.
