Brass Expo

Wish I could go!

Just took delivery of my first brass 2R engine yesterday (OMI Alco RS-11 custom painted for MoPac) and already feel the bite of the brass bug.  Have penciled these dates into the calendar.  Looking forward to this - will probably need to leave the credit card at home <g>.

I'm on the 3R side of the hobby, but love brass.

 

I would like to learn to make stuff from brass, any idea if they cover this type of thing in their clinics?

I'm definitely planning to attend this. I collected in the 80's and 90's, sold, and now with retirement just around the corner have been considering rebuilding my old collection. I swear I saw one of my exact early steam locos for sale at this weekends Scale Train Show; box had very familiar and distinctive wear marks.  Hmmm.....

13 Years!  Was that when that one was held at that resort south of Gettysburg, and

I never heard of another one again?  Those shows just make three railers, with all

the interesting cabooses, gas electrics, McKeen cars, etc. in brass, aware of what you can't have in three rail (Nyah, nyah, nyah!)

The last one I recall was at a country club west of Baltimore near Ellicott City, MD.

The last one was at a hotel an exit or two north of Timonium off rt. I-83

 

Can't recall the exit name or the hotel (it was one of the big chains), but it was a LARGE facility and the Expo was downstairs. First and only one I attended for obvious reasons. Year was 2002 as best I can recall.

Only one I heard of, and attended, was the one at Gettysburg,  This one with the

Timonium show would be great, IF Timonium bookended York, which it misses by

a week.  Timonium and the Strasberg O scale show just can't seem to get scheduled

right.

Anybody know if howard is related to George Zane?  George was my first Max Gray dealer - bought an MT-4 from him.  Merchantville NJ, I think.

The fairgrounds location makes for a nice day at the show and a trolley ride on the light rail system.
