@John in California I think that is the way to go and I hope it's possible. It makes a ton of sense because tablet and phone model becomes irrelevant. I'm weak in my knowledge of this area so I can only make some assumptions about coding. I suspect it wouldn't be so difficult to add this feature to the app. If anything, it actually makes more sense to add it to the app because you could use the smart device to display more info.

@MartyE I have seen you post this elsewhere and I still think it is the way haha Is the screen on the right what we expect the CAB3 app to look like?

How bout dumping all of this high tech stuff, and bringing back dials, levers and toggle switches.  :-)

I was thinking recently of using some knife (Frankenstein) switches connected with DCC wire (that's double cotton coated for you younger folks).  I have laid in a small stock of lamp fixtures with jewel lenses.

Lou, your description reminds me of the old test sets we had for testing protective relays at the power company into the early ‘80s.  They were home built behemoths with a monster knife switch to apply current to the relays.  The test for overload relays in the power station required up to and over 100 Amps to simulate an instantaneous fault!  You could actually hear the large coils groan!  Don’t let your hand slip down the handle!!  😱

Taking that to running model trains, it does give the feeling of operating a powerful machine.  Isn’t that what it’s about?
