Broadway Limited O Scale operating water tower

Has anyone opened the Broadway Limited operating water tower to investigate the mechanism (and perhaps take pictures?). I have an old Korber water tower kit I'm assembling and of course now I want to make the fill pipe on the Korber model operating like the BLI tower. I could buy the BLI tower and move the mechanism to the Korber tower, but I'm not mentally ready to spend that kind of money...yet. Any clues to how the BLI fill pipe is operated are appreciated.
