I heading out to California next month via the Zephyr. I’m getting off in Sacramento, intend to rent a car and head north up RT.70. Have a question for those who been there. How accessible are the areas like Keddie Wye and Williams Loop and the China Wall at Donner Pass?
I will have my better half with me, so I can’t scale mountains

I have driven east out past Keddie Wye to the W.P. museum farther east., and back in. I just remember overlooking the Wye down in the Feather River Canyon, do not know if more time and effort would have gotten me closer. Hope somebody from Nor. Calf. will tell you more.

A number of years ago, my wife and I took the drive up I-80. We stopped in Roseville, and saw the UP rotaries albeit from a distance. Had a very nice lunch at the Yard House (sorry, not that kind of yard, think beer)
China Wall is across the canyon from the road. There's room to pull off and watch near the marker.
No trains while we were there...
but a bunch of climbers.
