Would any of you happen to have any recommendations for interior lighting of Plasticville buildings? Decades ago, my grandfather just bought up a bunch of Bachmann lights at the Hobby Shop - the ones with the gray plastic bases that take the small screw-in bulbs. Is this the easiest, most cost-effective route to go these days, and if not, what products from what outlet(s) do you recommend? Are there any offerings that use LED technology or some other low-voltage draw setup that require no special regulators/circuit boards, that I can just wire right up to a ZW? Thanks for any help, -Scott

Check out Evans Designs Universal LED chip lights. Look up to the sponsors and check them out. I have started using the warm white ones and like the light and ease of use.
I would use low voltage lighting, like the kind that can be powered from a transformer.
Personally I am not fond of having 120 volts on my layout, miniture tree light sets.
What I use is miniture light bases from Radio Shack with 14 volt light bulbs and power them from an older Lionel transformer.

scottn941,
I'd go with the bases like you have on hand, with one exception. Convert everything to LED replacement type bulbs. In most cases the lights are brighter and use much considerably less voltage. The bases like you have on hand are still available from Town and Country Hobbies. At this time I have 85 of these in use without any problems.
I second Paul's recommendation of using Evans Designs universal LEDs. http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/bl-212.html They can connect directy to your AC transformer without any additional modifications. And they run on very low voltage. I used to use the Bachmann bulbs but I'm gradually switching them out for these.

Here is one of numerous sources for LED lighting ribbon strips, They break off in multiple of 3 have adhesive backs and work on 12 VDC. easy to make with a bridge rectifier from an AC transformer. Make sure you get warm white, unless you want a color or like the bluish white effect. The ribbon strips are much better on buildings than single LEDs since they can be mounted on the roof and shine down. They have wide view angles and are not directional.
