Would I like it? You bet I would, but wifey says I have to pay the electric bill first, if you get my drift...I am preparing space for a train room in the garage (we don't have basements in Florida) and have a lot of work do before I can start on a layout. Until then I have to live vicariously through forumer's layouts, displays, modeling and cool purchases. 

We don't have basements out here in So Cal either so you're not a lone. I just got my garage cleaned up and build my first L Girder layout and so far so good. I haven't laid the track yet but in time I will.  Just think of all the time you have to plan that awesome layout and it will happen.

After years on the run, the last of the UP "Gang of Six" was captured by the Isle of Denial Special Investigations Unit. The capture was complicated by a few "bounty hunters" also seeking to capture the suspect, but the IDSIU was successful in making the arrest seconds before the suspect escaped.

Nicknamed "Rio", the suspect was captured without incident early yesterday evening hiding in Dallas, TX. The suspect is being extradited to a holding facility in California where the rest of the gang is being held. There have been reports of an alleged mastermind behind the gang, nicknamed the Flag Bearer, who is a locomotive of interest and a BOLO has been issued. Stand by for future reports.

True, I totally agree, I have scale, 0-27, and standard o, with tons of different road names. I just buy what I like.

Plus I have a 4'x8' layout with 0-31 curves, so I can't run almost all scale locos and cars...

Not exactly a model train, but a 1972 Lionel Reunion knife money clip.

Robert Osterhoff's book Inside the Lionel Trains Fun Factory mentions a Lionel reunion that occurred in Cedar Grove NJ in 1972, one the mementos was this item.

This great running clockwork Dorfan 154 steamer arrived today. The only casting flaw is the drawbar post is broken off, but not from zinc past.

1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport with Sportsroof. One of my favorite real cars that I have all but given up ever finding a decent one to buy. But now I have it in 1/43 scale to place on the layout when running 'modern' trains. Made by Green Light for under $20.....VERY nice.

Great find.  I wasn't really into Blue Oval in my youth, but I loved the 1971 and 1972 Torinos and Ranchero's. I just loved the lines of the cars. The '57, '71 and '72 Rancheros are on my fantasy pickup collection list along with the '59, '60, '69, '70, '71 and '72 El Caminos (wasn't that much of a Bow Tie fan either). Seems the Rancheros and El Caminos were popular in two states -- California and Texas. Sales were lukewarm everywhere else.

New powered desert storm Lionel SD40-2 from 2002, not a perfect match for MTH dummy unit but it works for me.

They can run on my O-31 curves because I put washers in between the trucks and body, so they don't rub against any of the brake line details.

an Overland Palace Poultry car.     This will be a fun challenge to prep and paint.    The door slides open showing the drovers area; there are sliding end doors for feeding as its a two level car.    One of the finest models ever made [total production 125 pieces].     Lucky to have decals coming.

That is going to make a great looking car.

I have bought a few things some cool some not so cool bumpers not very cool but needed. 6 ameritown buildings pretty cool enjoying building then. ameritown furniture factory will be cool to build once it's here. but the coolest thing I got. which I can't wait to get started on it I picked up a bunch of rock master castings so I can make some rock molds. I am looking forward to doing that. don't know why but I am . also got some trees to build too. not sure how I feel about those . looks to be a lot of work   but 7 different rock molds and a retaining wall mold should be fun .

Well, I'm slow to pop in but it's been a good week.

My LHS emailed last week about the Weaver Army Medical Trailer TOFC arriving and I jumped in and had him put one aside for me.

And Then:

Thankfully I'd been saving for this one since I ordered it so long ago.

So I got the Weaver TOFC and the MTH ARMY Engineering cars at the same time.

Now, first I'll say the Engineering car is not nearly that bright green, once I knock the shine down it will be a close if not a proper OD Green.

The Weaver car is perfect in color and dead flat with exception of the Red Cross on the roof. I'll give that a pass, those were often added in a hurry with whatever red paint was found.

Richard at the LHS was kind enough to do a quick test of the Challenger for me on the store layout so No Worries there at all. It looks and sounds awesome !!!

All in All an Excellent weekend. Wallet is sure thinner tho  >:-)

How about a set of Lionel B&O F3s form the 2004 catalog. I think these are the best run of F3s Lionel has done to date. They will pull a set of K-Line 21" B&O Lightweights. Should be a spectacular passenger train.

A 1954 JEEP pickup by NEO, which is nice by itself but doubly so because it is such a perfect companion for the  American Excellence 1954 Willys Jeep Station wagon I got last month.

1966 Dodge Dart by White Box, which I bought purely because it is a plain-Jane family/motor pool version of a very, very boring car - no doubt this one had the 225 cid slant six and AM radio only, and maybe - maybe - if the owner splurged, air . . . models of cars this far away from the premium end of the automotive spectrum are very very hard to find!

A yet to be delivered Super Chuff board.  I'm hoping it arrives today so I can get it in over the weekend!

Bought a pair of Atlas Trainman CNW gondolas and an MTH CNW Livestock car off da Bay. They arrived at the office today. Gotta fit Kadees on the livestock car.

I have had that print for several years, but haven't gotten around to getting it framed.

passenger cars to go with the challenger I got a few weeks ago.

bought 3 of these to go with the one I already have. going to repaint them all and detail for custom loads.

I thought this LCCA NS box car, Support Our Troops, would always be cool car to have.  However, I never thought I would owe one because of difficulty of finding it.  I have seen many of these overpriced on the bay, so I never seriously pursed to find one.  However, when I saw this one up for auction, the bidding started off at reasonable price.   On the last day of auction, there was only 1 bid on it, so I put up a good maximum bid on it, but I was still thinking someone will surely out bid me on this one.  I was surprised when no further bids were placed and I won the auction for little less than the original price when it came out a few years ago!   The car was listed as used, but when I took it out the box, it appeared to have no run time!    

This Southern Pelican LCCA box car I have been searching for for several months to match my other NS Southern Heritage cars that I have in my collection.  Again, I got this one at a reasonable price, new in the box, and I was the only bidder on it!    

It is always nice to find something you want and not to have to pay arm and leg for it!

it never fails tho you order a bunch of stuff and things you have been waiting on show up for auction and you already spent your budget for the month but so much for budgets I guess. the 3 passenger cars to match the engine I got about a month ago.

Ordered the MTH MONON AA set with passenger cars in Gray and Red from MR. Muffins Trains.  Looking forward to seeing it.

I don't know if this counts, new to this group and O gauge trains, unless you count the one I got for Christmas in 1948.  Still trying to build my first layout, so much I don't know, but I have bought some engines and cars in preparation.  I love large steamers I remember as a kid and I was able to find a new Lionel 9000 class UP engine, I couldn't believe how beautiful it is, the twelve drivers are something to behold.  I thought my SF Texan was big.  I see from other posts I should have a photo.

I have been trying to locate this Lionel operating accessory for some time now.  Finally located one and it will be a great addition to my new Army yard.  It does come with the matching armory car.

I finally bought my first set of Lionel aluminum passenger cars for my collection, and one from the year I was born (1993): The California Zephyr. It will be a week until they arrive at my front door, but I don't regret buying it a bit. Always a favorite, glamorous set of mine, and at a steal price of $375!

A 5-car K-Line 15" aluminum Lackawanna Phoebe Snow passenger set. The 15" cars look good on my O54, O63 and O72 curves. I'm also getting an ABA F-3 set to pull them. I also got a 1956 Desoto 1/43 die-cast. I've been wanting a Desoto for a long time!

Just received my new PWC Wabash F-3 from Nassau Hobbies they are perfect. They pull my postwar rolling stock with no problem.

Four months ago I bought a 3rd Rail PRR P70 from a forum member for $75 to be part of a scale sized commuter train I'm putting together.  Thought it was like a GGD one; plastic.  When I opened the box and saw it was brass, I was a little surprised.  A great looking car, but I'm not sure it is better than GGD's.  Because it is a little different than GGD's plastic P70s, I plan to run this as a coach with my GGD 1948 streamliner set.

I bought one of these on the recommendation of Jeff Kane who thought I'd like the challenge of getting one of these Postwar 3360s back in running condition. "Challenge" was an understatement. The complexity of the engineering that went into these little bad boys is amazing. It runs perfectly now and was a blast to work on. It does, however, sound like a coffee grinder in action. Goes with the territory on these.

MTH ps 2.0 with all 6 passenger cars. I already had 3 add on cars and a second engine. so A-A and 9 passenger cars. I hope to be done buying for awhile. I also should get my challenger back tomorrow per the tracking number out of space on the layout to park trains. sounds like I need more shelves.

A fully assembled and painted but unlettered 0-6-0 in TT for my multi scale collection. Now, all I need is a Lionel OO gauge steamer. Then I will have all of the major and two minor (orphan) scales - all in NYC.

Thanks to a Forum member, I added a Sante Fe K-Line Baggage car to go with my Super Chief set. 

If you haven't looked for baggage lately, you might not realize how hard it can be to find.  Finding a Station Sounds Diner that you are missing can be very challenging as well.

Art, you are absolutely correct. Baggage cars are hard to come by and thanks to Forum member Jason, he was able to locate two of these Sante Fe cars and was good enough to share one with me.

A few weeks I picked up a Marx freight set with the 8 wheel auto couplers in the box. The box is also a terminal and has the loading dock as well as the instructions and a well worn Timely Table. The only thing missing is one of the milk kegs. I have repro's, but will search for a original to match the other 3.

I couldn't resist this very cool NOREV MG-A coupe.  I have about two dozen 1950s British sports cars and this is one of the best.  It will definitely be on the layout.

This one comes under the so ugly, I had to have it category. ETS tinplate model of a Class PtL 2/2 K.Bay.St.B Glaskasten (Glass Box). Judging by the road number, this is a model of the second series, made from 1908-1914. The last one retired in 1963.

Found these at a yard sale last weekend finally for around to looking them over. The 212 Alco runs but need to be serviced and the other is a dummy unit. Both shell are in ok shape but still may replace them. The whole box was $12 came with track, freight cars and a transformer.

finally got my crane. I really wanted a Prewar 2660 , but couldn't beat $11! Needs some TLC, but that's fine for me.

I just got a Subaru Crosstrek with a 5 speed manual. My first tank of gas of local driving was 26.8mpg. I can't wait to see the mpg to York tomorrow. I just got rid of a 97 Land Rover getting 12mpg.

 Very Fun little sets. Bobbers are so cool. Remember to add some weight to the loco and it'll pull extremely well for its size. Out pulls my 4-4-0 PullMor General easy. A few Water Gremlins(sinkers) and this cab forward mod. w/corgi yard plow is pulling a mostly PW die cast work train right now. E&B crane, fish-belly & 2 wire rolls(of solder), a short supply flat (plastic but w/load- brass,steel,&copper bushings/pipe/tacknail-spikes etc., a DL&W 2419work caboose, and a lighted SP caboose. Takes a cast Atlantic to out pull it .

Picked up this 1956 Lionel 2259W set at a estate sale last weekend. The set was very dirty and is

missing parts. Working on cleaning it up and searching for parts.

Most recent purchases include a couple items I've wanted for quite a while, all lionel, all off ebay:

Postwar 282R magnetic gantry crane, came already serviced and rewired with extra long wire split with couplers in the middle.  Works great, and great price at  $90.

Postwar 2531 Silver Dawn observation, needs about $10 in parts, but I paid $20 including shipping, so a steal for me!  Now all I need is the Silver Bluff and i'll have a complete set!

And just for fun, the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express set.  I had read horrible reviews about this set, but I got it for $60 in the box.  When I got it, I was impressed with the weight and details of the engine.  The fasttrack is as noisy as everyone says it is, but at least now I have something to run on the floor of my apartment while all my other trains are back in my parents' basement.

My father had one of those -- a 1960, complete with the wire wheels. Supposedly, the coupe was somewhat rare. The car was very nice to drive and handled well. He liked it so much he bought my mother a convertible and painted it the same color.

roadster, and into a more sensible 1978 Camaro six cylinder coupe, due to the "Prince of Darkness" electronics.  Ratpak:  I just traded my irreplaceable 5 speed manual Aerostar van, which only got 23 MPG, on a 2015 Subaru six speed manual Forester, which got consistently 30.9 MPG driving all over the Rocky Mountain west last month.

(I never could get it to exceed 30.9...could not get it to turn over into 31 even once)

That certainly is a beautiful model Lee.  I had a couple of MGA's back in college and almost bought a coupe once. I passed due to the awfully hot weather in New Orleans as the ventilation was poor in the coupes. I did have a factory(?) hardtop for several years that looked just like this when mounted but gave me the option of running as a convertible most of the time.

A section of my layout will have an Amish farm scene.  I just bought 4 o scale buggy kits to complete the scene.  Now I need to find 4 harnessed horses.

Nick, where did you get them? As since I was born and raised in Lancaster County, there has to be a spot I can get them on my layout!

A Beaufighter is one I never did find when I was mass producing WWll models. My trainboard has a steel(actually aluminum) umbrella consisting of my teenage planes. Still need to find a few and pick up a few replacements for ones lost over the years.

It is the Revell 1974 issue.Even has a full panel ad for the Revell Master Modelers Club.I was a member and vividly remember the Get It Together pamphlet that used to come!

I used to be heavily into model airplanes.  Loved it, still miss building them.  Just don't have the time anymore to dedicate to it.

My dad still does, at last count he had over 6,000 different kits!

Williams by Bachmann NYC F-3 ABA set and Lionel Legacy Milwaukee GP-35. The GP-35 is my third Legacy engine; I also have the Milwaukee S-3 4-8-4 No.267 and the Milwaukee F-7 AA set with add-on B unit. In the past I haven't been real big on the high-end electronics, but I like Legacy so much I bought a system for my home layout when I get it back in operation.

I love the Spitfire! My Metis (half-breed Canadian native) father flew 3 types of Spitfires in WW2; flew 239 missions! His middle handle was - no kidding - "Lucky" for an obvious reason. Unfortunately, like so many vets, he came back to an ordinary small city that had remained pretty much the same, while he had been changed by the war. Alcohol was his savior in the war, and his undoing in later life, but the fact that I'm even here to be able to love my trains is due to his efforts. 

As for new stuff, thanks to GG1guy (a site contributor), I was able to get his brand-new LCCA Collector's Club Texas Special beautiful NW-2 Cow and Calf. They are beauties, and even tho' I run conventional, lotsa great sounds and a deep-blast horn freaks my dog and brings a glow to my heart. Pix attached...

I noticed this set of Weaver Wabash 20" cars on Ebay a couple of weeks ago and put in an opening bid of $150 about 3 hours before the auction ended.  When I got home I checked my E-mail to find out I won.  I received them in three days to find out they are brand new and never ran.  Now I am looking to find another set and or more single cars to make a longer consist and either a set of used MTH Premier Alco PA's or a new Lionel Legacy AA set of E8's.  

Keith, you need to talk to Santa Clause about that Legacy System.

A friend bought a '69 Camaro shortly after we graduated from high school.  It was a really cool car!!

Yesterday, I purchased the Polar Express Dining Car at the Greenberg show in Monroeville.  Maybe it isn't so cool because all they serve on that car is HOT chocolate. 

keys6700 sorry but you didn't get a 69 camaro.... it looks like a 68 as that was the first years without vent windows on the camaro. easiest way to tell on 1st generation camaros 67 had vent windows no side markers, 68 no vent windows and side markers. 69 had different shaped fender wells different taillights and parking lights below the bumper. i own 1 67 1 68 7 69's.

I have the traditional.  Did you see the Polar Express the Pittsburgh Independent HiRailers were running?  The scale one, way cooler than mine, but I'm happy.

Yes I did see Santa on the observation deck.  That was a neat addition.  I have the observation, regular coach, the marionette car from the set, and the hobo car and now the diner.  I also picked up the Polar Express girder bridge, plus the set of the conductor, engineer, fireman, and the boy.  My daughter is going to get me some red doll hair so I can make a beard for the fireman.  I don't know why he is clean shaven.

Didn't even plan on getting any motive power---Just a case of coming loaded for bear, and only having bought a few small things the entire show. People were covering their tables up when I pulled the trigger on this one. 

I think I'll hitch it to my K-Line Metro-North Bombadier cars and call it a "miraculous preservation"
