yesterday jack the owner of Amer's hobby shop had copies made of the original store that Howard Amer owned where my grandfather bought my 1st train set. and in a non train related item 46 years ago i walked into Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago and bought my 69 427 Camaro which i still own. besides spending the day with my son 2 other things to be thankful for. hoping everyone on the forum has a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving....

It's a little beat up, but the Cadbury's vans are usually outrageously expensive, so I thought I was lucky to get this one relatively cheap.    It goes with the Fyffes Banana van I found last year.  These are just classic Hornby wagons, I'm pretty excited.

WOW!!!  That's a LOT of bridge.  Dimensions?

Thanks for sharing.

The bridge is 84" (7') long and double tracked.  I pitched the idea (along with dimensions and lots of prototype photos) to East Coast Enterprises and they turned it into reality.  Here's the prototype:

Got this Dorfan 110 boxed clockwork set in the mail today. The engine is typical Dorfan, Zinc rot has destroyed the shell, but as you see in the second photo, I had a good engine just waiting for the correct mix to go with it.

The lot also came with a couple of extra 355 coaches, but I'm pretty sure the set only came with one.

Bought this bad boy last week off the bay, got a good price but the pantographs were broken. Seems the previous owner raised them manually and broke the a cutting levers off. I fixed it by extending the levers with a brass tube. Also seems that one hot bent weird in the process, if it bugs me enough I'll order a new one

Just got a Williams Canadian Pacific F3 AA set complete with 4 aluminum passenger cars.  It came in the mail on Monday from a forum member.  That is a great looking set!  When I put it on my test track (a standard fast track loop) that thing took off with the smallest amount of power; what a puller!  This is my first Williams set, definitely won't be my last!

This is only cool for you if you traveled in west TX, and saw this line in action before the demise of the ICC.  If you do research on this line, don't look to Wikipedia because their info is full of errors.

This line existed until the Staggers Act, and then its redundancy caused it to be torn up.

Atlas makes this car in its Steam Era Classics line in, at least, two road numbers...for sentimental reasons, I had to buy both.

RSP

Back in the day while traveling east on US 84 between Snyder and Roscoe, TX, you had Panhandle & Santa Fe on your left and RS&P on your right.  On the "best day ever" you could see trains on both lines during that 40+ mile stretch.

Well, I got carried away again with my checkbook..  Suzie and I went to visit our friendly Lionel dealer & collector.  Beautiful day for a car ride!  Picked up my repaired and renovated "KW" transformer. Gave him my old "Z" transformer for same treatment. Told him to take his time with it.  He says he hates working on "Z"-transformers.  Hates trying to take them apart.  So we'll see what happens.  I owed him about $ 400.00 for some stuff.  This I planned for, but it didn't stop there!

Suzie wanted the "pumpkin-head" dudes on the handcar..  She wanted a streetcar-Christmas type..  She wanted a Santa Fe caboose.  I bought the new # 262 crossing gate with die-cast base.  It's a beauty and the lights operate like a real one...

Then came the # 300 Hell Gate Bridge-- Suzie wanted me to get it.  Then I spied a Lionel SP Warhorse Coal Set..  It was then I thought we should stop!

Haven't started the new layout as yet in the Living Room she "leased" to me!  Coming soon.  Been buying supplies and making plans and getting great ideas from my buddies on OGR...  I hope to get the furniture out of the house this coming week that we decided to dispose of so I can get started.  Will keep you all posted!

I was going to take photos at my friends house-- both the film and digital cameras had dead batteries.  Ridiculous!!  You should see his overall collection! In its own train room of 24 x 48 feet !  A huge layout in the center using K-Line Shadow track. Boxes and trains and piece-parts everywhere you look.  Everywhere !!!  BIG engines and small!  Complete SETS on display in MTH, Lionel, and Flyer.  Milwaukee Bi-Polars,

GN Y-1 heavy electric loco # 5018, New Haven heavy electrics, SP AC-12, SP AC-9,

UP Big-Boy, UP 844, UP 9000 and "dozens" more.  I about passed out when I first saw this stuff last November..  Today was our second visit.  He really likes us!!  Maybe that's a good thing.  The overall value of the collection is INCREDIBLE..  There is probably EVERYTHING in that room that was "EVER" made in history to run on 3-rail or 2-rail track and I am "NOT" exaggerating one bit, fellows!  You'd go NUTS just trying to take it all in !  Tons of various Accessories as well !

Anyway, here is a pictorial sample of what I blew my coins on...

Photos not posting right now.  Will have to Edit and try later!

Cheers.

A couple of weeks ago I was in an indoor flea market/junk store and bought an almost new K Line freight set at a decent price. Only thing in the store I saw worth buying. I don't think it was hardly ever run. When I got home I saw the boogered up rear coupler but fixed that in a minute. Nice starter set based on Marx diesel engine and cars. Didn't need it, really doesn't fit too well with what I have but had to buy something. It might be donated to someone or the engine might be a power unit for an RDC or something.

Yep - over the past few months I have been selling of some Lionel and MTH P1 stuff that Ididn't run and used the funds to add to my Lionmaster roster. I now have the UP SD90, and one each of all the steam engines including the legacy whistle version of the Big boy and 2 legacy versions of the challenger - UP and Rio Grande.

Over her in the UK large curves are not so easy in our small houses with no basements so I am well pleased. This was all done with the help of some forumites and you know where online.

I wish there was a Lionmaster Allegheny to buy or a Q2 as mentioned on another post!!

MIKE

Hadn't seen this thread in awhile and yes, these are pretty cool. I was able to obtain the beautiful MTH PS 3.0 Premiere Texas Special F3 set painted in the un-prototypical scheme of the postwar Lionel 2245's. Somehow, I much prefer the red and white to the correct scheme...

Just bought this K-Line scale B unit with smoke. You don't often find smoking B units. I'll either repaint this to go with our GM&O F3s or eventually pick up some matching PRR F units.

I finally got a Lionel 264 forklift platform!  Got a good deal on an original in good working order, just need to pick up a car to go with it.  I'm not picky so i might pick up a repro.  I've wanted one of these since the first time i saw one in action.  It's such a cool little accessory, and it always seems to work cleanly (as opposed to any coal based accessory).  eagerly waiting for it to be delivered!

We just picked up this nice (cool) K-Line PRR F7 B unit with smoke. It has great detail including two sets of air hoses at each end, an extra pair of short-shank couplers and some of the nicest diaphragms I've seen..

I might repaint it to run with these Atlas F3's sometime down the line!

I nabbed this 2-truck Legacy Shay off eBay for $380, runs and looks great.  It's a smokin' fool, I was surprised how much smoke this sucker produces.  The slow speed is great, have to look twice to see if it's moving.  I think this has beat the Genset as my slow speed champ!

This will look great with a string of my IDR log cars behind it.

That is a super looking Shay, John!  I guess we will have to rewrite the legend of Paul Bunyon.  He started using the iron horse instead of the blue ox!

That's awesome, John! It looks amazing, so many cool details!!!

BigBoy4014, congrats on your latest purchase.  I've bought some items (trains, Harley stuff, etc.) and made, face-to-face, with the seller, low ball offers and said, to the seller, I hoped they would decline the offer because I didn't need the item, it was purely an impulse offer, and, the seller would, more often than not, accept the offer.  Believe me, this was no ploy on my part; but that's how I accumulated a lot of stuff I'm now planning to sell--not all of it, but most of it.

Thx Pingman... I know exactly what you mean. Over the last couple of years, I had bought an easy 10-12 locos from eBay just because they were smoking steam and diesel deals, pun intended...

Attended a show in Cheshire, CT yesterday (thanks DMASSO for the info).  When I heard "train show at a high school" I assumed it would be a couple of guys with layouts; didn't expect it would be a big show complete with dealers.  Wish I had brought more cash, but I guess that kept me from over spending   Lots of S scale and smaller, but some good o-gauge stuff.  saw some very nice layouts as well.

Anyway, picked up a postwar banjo signal in the original box from a kind older gentleman.  I had been looking for a reasonably priced one for a while.  When I got it home I tested it and it wouldn't move, so after finding the parts diagram, I saw it was missing the rubber gasket that sits between the motor and the cap which I should have remembered from a similar experience with my searchlight car.  Anyway, should be a simple part order and the guy who sold it to me did throw in 2 switch lanterns I needed, so I wasn't upset about it.  Spent the afternoon cleaning up and testing some 022 switches and UCS track I got in a lot off ebay.  Still buying for that non existant layout!

Great score!  I love Challengers.  This one I'd gladly add to my fleet, and I'm a UP steam only  guy!  Just something about the Z-6!

Well, only related to trains because of some of the things I make with it.

MY new Solidoodle Press 3D printer.

<removed failed pic of 3D printer>

Now, It's a lot less cash than most 3D printers but don't run screaming to the bank.

This brand new design still has few bugs but I'm working through them.

And No, My only association with Solidoodle is as a consumer.

I have made a pair of Pallets and a Picnic table in O scale.

Several other things will follow.

I have models of several people, some will be resized to match up, some won't.

Two weeks ago, I purchased an Ameritowne 823 Pat and Jean's Jewelry kit.  The kit went together great.  No issues.  Today, I bought two more Ameritowne kits--the 442 Acme Machine Co. and Homestead Furniture kits from my LHS.  I'm looking forward to building these and putting them on my small rural themed layout, which I haven't started yet.

In the past, I've purchased other Ameritowne kits in the 300 series-the City Hall and Real Estate office.  I have also built at least one each of the 500 series kits.  All have gone together very well.

Not model related, but the model train show in Monroe, WA over last weekend was well worth the trip. I found a 1944-dated D&H lantern that was in incredible shape, where someone had punched a hole in the bottom for an electric light. I wanted to do that with a lantern but wouldn’t drill a hole myself, so I got this one really cheap (just over $40 for the lantern and a red globe from another vendor who had mostly lantern stuff). I only need to find a flame-shaped bulb either as battery powered or wired. Heck, I could easily get a burner and use it normally if I wanted to.

I also found a neat EMD unit truck plate set for next to nothing, some good books (including a WW2 Jeep book for $15 that normally retails for about 50 when you can find it), a book on railfanning Stevens and Stampeded Passes (ironic as the Stevens pass line was right across the highway from the venue) DVDs (one vendor had them for $2 each) and some detail items. I haven’t seen that much good stuff at a show in years, it was a good run. Could have bought a lot more stuff if I didn't fear the wrath of my wife!  For example, a guy had what was a pretty decent price on a complete GN semaphore blade, but it was too much for my wallet and I have no room to hang it anyway.

I also hit all the major hobby shops in Seattle on the way home and found some magazines and random items.

Hey P51-- Sorry I missed you at the Monroe show.  I was in the 4-H building by the main entrance.  Selling DVD's and some old accessories from my grandfather's live steam 2 1/2-inch gauge railroad.  THAT stuff sold-out two hours before the show opened to the Public.

Now then, you guys have to start keeping me away from Shows or wherever model trains hibernate with choice items for sale.  The checkbook was flying again !!

Bought 31 postwar freight cars for an average $ 4.00 each.  Not too bad a condition. Just clean the bodies and wheels- a little lube and should be OK.

Bought a "brand new" # 132 Station (in orig box) for $ 65.00 !  YES, that's what I said..  Bought a new pair of '022' switches (in orig box) for $ 50.00 !!  Bought the 3-car set of silver PFE's by Lionel for $ 100.00 !

My wife Suzie bought $ 80.00 worth of cattle and misc farm animals !  Crazy, huh ?

Bought another new Rail-King # 262 crossing gate!  Bought Lionel # 2332 GG-1 (NEW in Box) for approx $ 300.00 !  She wanted the RED loco but settled on GREEN !!

Well, she'll be surprised:  When I got home--I ordered her a RED GG-1 from Williams.(online)

She doesn't know as yet..  Thank goodness !!!!!  (grin)

Also over the weekend, I got crazy on Ebay...

Bought some Trolley's---  A Santa Fe ALCO A-B-A Set..  An additional powered B-Unit.

Am putting together the Santa Fe "Super Chief" --  minimum of FOUR motors and several cars-- all MTH...  I'll post photos when the time comes.  Should be a beaut!

There were a few other odds & ends..  I scraped the bottom of the financial barrel and "treated myself" to a beautiful Southern Pacific Cab Forward, AC-12, # 4294 from MTH.

Suzie doesn't know about this either--as YET!  If you guys never hear from me again, in the future, you'll know what happened !!  (grin)

In closing,  I do NOT go out and buy model trains like this, which started in October-'14...  I normally don't have that kind of loot!  BUT, in return, I had a team of four men here this past Friday and they added "Central A/C" to our Lennox furnace, which she has always wished for!  That was VERY pricey!  SO--  I took some loot out of my 401K account, and got A/C for her and a few trains for ME !!

However, the shopping extravaganza has now come to an end... !!

Construction of the NEW layout is just about to really begin!   More info on Layout/Design forum as well as the Electrical forum.  Cheers to all!

At Saturday's Greenberg Show in Edison, I purchased "Potomac Yard: The Gateway Between the North and the South." Authored by James Foley and published by the RF&P Historical Society, the book covers the period from 1880 to 1920. It is a huge volume full of extremely detailed text supplemented by diagrams and illustrations and has received favorable reviews. At almost 800 pages, I questioned whether I really needed 7 pounds of information on just one yard; however, Potomac Yard was such a pivotal facility in its day it does indeed deserve extensive documentation. The dealer told me Volume 2 covering the 20s onward is in the works. I'll need to reinforce the shelf these two books are sitting on for sure!

I was just in the Seattle area on vacation and East Side Trains told me about this train show. I never been to one before, sounds like a neat experience.

It's funny that I drove through Monroe, WA too along the way to Stevens Pass a few days prior to the show. I did take a sweet picture of a train in Goldbar, WA.

Oh yeah I picked up a Burning Hobo Depot up in Kirkland, WA.

Thanks to an alert by a fellow OGR forum member I bought this off Amazon2 days ago....and it came today1!!!

It's a Williams Christmas set with a 4-6-0, reefer, gondola and caboose. It also has a decnt loop of EZ track and transformer.

My out of pocket??? $9.00!!!!! the flash sale price was $104.00 and Amazon owed me a credit of $95.00.....so needless to say.......Good deal!!!

I had not seen the EZ Track....kinda like it better than Lionel Fastrak but doubt I'll use it other than under the tree.  Locomotive will get reworked and painted as will the reefer. The rest the wife will use under the tree.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

Amazon listed these as 'damaged boxes' which mine was.....a 3 inch cut in the outer box and the carry handle torn off......box is heading to the trash so I didn't care!

Bought 2 sets of MTH Premier Amtrak Superliners from the OGR For Sale forum today.

Wanted to buy the deluxe foam loco cradle from Collectors Choice.  Called today, and he is out of foam...waiting for a delivery.  And, he does his work in the garage where the temp is now too cold to cut the foam.  So, it looks like it will be a few weeks until he can make any more cradles.

Just picked up this beautiful Lionel Trains shelf a week or so back. For a guy that likes dealer items as much as I do this fit right in. It's my understanding that there were less than 50 of these produced and I can understand why. At almost 8 feet long and 30-40 pounds they would have been a challenge to ship. Thrilled to have this in the train room.

I picked up this Like New circa 1965/1966 Lionel 773 Hudson complete with the backwards installed water scoop on its undersized 773W New York Central Tender at the Allentown (Spring Thaw Meet?) a few weeks ago.  It runs as good as it looks.  As good as the new stuff looks I still always make room for some classic Lionel history.

Scored an MTH Baldwin M-1 off eBay, which arrived this week.  Got to take it for a test run around the guest bedroom last night.  Sound doesn't work, but the seller probably said the battery likely needs changed.  I don't have a huge interest in the C&O, but it's a bit of an oddity & thought it would be a fun addition.  Might pair it w/the new C&O 21" Lionel passenger cars, in time.  I'd also like to eventually upgrade to DCS, if possible.

I've been buying scenic items galore. People figures, trees, crates , hydrants, phone booths, fencing, and textured stone patterns from Scenic Express. Also purchased three dozen 12V LED bulbs (bayo and screw base) , and 20 lamp posts from the Chinese direct on eBay, no middleman. You can buy the LED bulbs for about 40-50 cents each shipping included and the lampposts for about $1 shipped. Also purchased 20 Chinese rectifier boards for $1.00 each direct and we are ready to start the lighting.

Yesterday, I bought another RMT Bang switcher at my LHS.  This Bang is a #92314 Santa Fe.   The price was right, and I had a Lionel/MPC A. T. & S. F. 9071 bobber caboose to go with it.  I bought the caboose a couple of years ago at an anitique mall for 3 bucks.

I now have a total of seven Bangs in my fleet.

Today I bought a DEWALT DWS-780 12-in 15-Amp Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw at Lowes.  They were offering the heavy duty miter saw stand free with purchase of the saw.  Not directly model train related.  But it will definitely help with building the bench-work for the new layout this Spring/Summer.

I got a Williams NYC Dreyfuss a few weeks back. Now I needed a set of streamline cars for it to pull. My modeling of the NYC is just as a road with trackage rights on my layout....and while I love the Dreyfuss getting 100% correct cars was tough. So for my Dreyfuss.....

DREYFUSSW1

I got these today for it to pull.......

I know it didn't have a dome car....and smooth sided would be better.....but these were a deal and what I wanted to spend......and I REALLY like them. Williams 72 ft flutted cars.

Can't wait to run these on the layout........thx

Here's another book I purchased recently. Titled "Southern Pacific and the KM Hydraulics", it tells the story of the high horsepower diesel hydraulic units which were built by Krauss-Maffei for the SP and Rio Grande in the 60s. The coverage is thorough and and discusses the concept behind the locomotives, their development, construction, testing, delivery, operation and retirement. The remarkable preservation of the sole survivor is included as well. The text is complemented by many diagrams and photographs in a manner which makes this one of the most comprehensive motive power books I've ever come across. The book is already in its second printing as the first run sold out in a matter of weeks. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the second run as it is almost sold out as well.

You guys should see that big K-M on the Niles Canyon Railway near Fremont, CA.  Howard Wise and his restoration crew are doing an INCREDIBLE job of completely rebuilding the unit.  Right now, the basic MU controls are complete, so that it appears the Unit on the lead is operating, but it is actually controlling the diesel unit hooked behind it!

The main worry was trying to find the very complicated power trucks and hydraulic transmission mechanisms, otherwise, forget it !  By God, they found them in a scrap yard in FRANCE.  Had them shipped over and installed.  This K-M will eventually be a totally new machine.  Amazing !!!

The railfan community will come out in droves when the big day comes !!  I can hardly wait!

Cheers.

Interesting amtrack passenger set I found on ebay. I just took it out to run.

Per the bay "Vintage Elliot Welz O Gauge Amtrak Metroliner set 1 serial number 686 that rates C7 excellent with the boxes. This set includes powered Metro Coach 820 and 3 non powered cars, Snack Bar Coach 859, Metro Coach 829, and Metro Club 881. The powered unit tested good on O32 track and the lighting worked. It would not change direction until it was cycled a few times and then functioned ok. A typical E unit occurrence after prolonged storage. The lighting worked in the other 3 cars. All of the cars are clean and show minimal use. The cars are about 16 inches long. The cars will ship in the original box within our shipping box to keep it all nice.

After our Neal S. posted this photo.........

NEALSHORR

I thought it was so cool I had to replicate it...in a way.....

My layout is set 1950's but I do own more modern equipment. I had never really looked at the Atlas 'Auto Parts' Hy-Cube box cars....Neal's photo changed that.

I had to order me a few. First one came this week....

AUTOPART

Very cool box cars.....big, well detailed but it took me less than 30 seconds to slightly bump the brake wheel and pop it off!!! And since my RR is the D&RGW set in WV this one works for me! I also have a B&O (great grandfathers rr) and N&W coming.

So to paraphrase an old commercial....' I wana be like Neal'!!!

Awhile ago my girlfriend's cousin sold my his Arbor press with the lionel style tools, wheel cups and some American Flyer cups and a couple other AF tools, The lot also came with two post-war Lionel shop books and a modern one (like the Greenburg reprint) some AF and lionel cataloges and a reel of post -war lionel 8 or super 8 film(need to put on dvd) And he built a gun cart(for cowboy action shooting) The whole lot was only $170.00! He used to work for a Northern Calif. shop as a repairman. Missed out on the spare parts tho.

I was looking for car for the big boy to pull. thanks to the advice of other members I looked for 40 foot wood sided cars.  I searched and found on Stouts auction site Atlas "Steam Era Classics". I picked them up on Tuesday and after laying track for a siding for the Big Boy I unpacked them tonight. I wasn't to excited because it was Atlas. As I was unpacking them there was a notice inside that said "Please note: This car is highly detailed. Use care when removing from Styrofoam."  This is a understatement as the detail is incredible with steps below the door and couplers!!

Now I have to add Atlas to my search list.  My exposure to Atlas prior to this was their controller for track power and switch controllers. Too borrow from Shane Twain they didn't impress me much. But this cars did!!!!

I've almost never unwrapped an new Atlas car without having to glue stuff back on.

Rboatertoo,

The detail on the Atlas O Master Series Steam Era Box Cars is just incredibly real, IMO some of the very best ever done.  If you were able to pick them up at a reasonable cost, you were definitely lucky.  The great thing about Atlas O Steam Era is that they come either in 3 rail or 2 rail, and Atlas produces special runs of the small old time logging Railroad Box Cars for people like me to acquire, they are heavy quality Box Cars, for constant stable running, so you can put many Box Cars on a running consist.  Atlas O Steam Era was definitely a wise purchase on your part, they should make a great consist for your Big Boy Engine to pull.

I agree the detail on these Atlas O Masters Series Steam Era Box Cars is fantastic.

The Wellsville, Addison & Galeton, Sole Leather Line Box Cars are some of my favorites.

This small roundhouse dwarfed the even smaller swap meet I attended today.  The seller also had a number of other assembled wooden buildings, some of which I bundled together into a nice tidy deal.  I couldn't wait to add some details this afternoon but this first pic is pretty much as bought.

The siding is even scribed on the inside and a great deal of post and beam construction adds to the realism....a virtual blank canvas for extreme detailing.  Lighting and the styrene smoke stack vents were also included.

I applied some ink wash just for kicks.  You can also see where I'm adding new molding around the roof eves...helps hide any gap that might be visible between the roof and sides.

Loads more fun involved in detailing it out.  Maybe someone knows....is this roundhouse a kit?  The stall doors look manufactured ...almost too good to be scratch.

Made it to the Greenburg show in Wilmington, MA on Sunday.  Picked up some postwar goodies.  Got a 020 crossover in a really nice box.  Just wanted to pick one up to have around, the box was an added bonus.  Was looking for a project so I found a guy with a table full of them at very reasonable prices.  ended up picking up a later model 2026 that just needs some rewiring and he threw in a log dump car that I needed for the conveyor log loader I got a few weeks back.  The log dump car is missing 2 spikes, but operates very well and has 5 original logs.  I have an early model 2026 in my collection that I love (great little runner!), so this late model one will be my project to fix up and flip.  Cosmetically it's pretty good minus a small chip on the front and a chip on the front bottom of the tender, so all it needs is mechanical/electrical which is the part I'm good at anyway!

"Hey passenger ttrain collector, do you know, were there any more CNW cars made? Somebody told me that K-Line made a total of twelve for the set but I have only ever seen the 8"

Matt, according to the Legacy K-Line website, there were 12 C&NW 21" passenger cars made, six Hi-Level commuter style and six low level. I have 8, but two are duplicates. Hope this helps.

2004 T-Bird

We looked at those a while back when the wife wanted a 'cool car'.

But unfortunately for us....they haven't loss as much value as I thought they may have!!!

I don't know if it is cool, but I have been looking for this car for several years.  I've been outbid on it three times over the last 7 years, so this time I bid really high.  I won it at less than half my max bid

This gives me 14 21" cars (mix of K-Line and GGD) which is the max I can fit into my planned staging track with my E7 ABA.

Matt, I think I'm going to do the same.  The Legacy site is good, though some errors (not being a critic, I've used the site many times).

The set product numbers don't list an accurate content of which cars are in sets.  For example, a set product number of 4690C is just the 3 car set number-not the specific cars in it that had different product numbers.  This is only an issue when looking for sets, not individual cars. I found out the hard way....

The DVD should clarify what cars came in which sets, based off the catalogs.

Love the K-Line 21" aluminum cars~!  I still get excited when I find a set for sale-though I have all the cars I want, I buy 'em every time.  Just bought another set today.

And, as you already know, some of them are very hard to find and demand a premium!

You'll need a heck of a staging yard for 14 of those monsters!

Attended the Large Scale Train Show at York on Friday. Took my buddy over to the Charles Ro booth to show him their BigBoy and stumbled on this:

IFulgurex Loco

It's a Gauge 1 Pacific Steam engine manufactured by a Swiss company called Fulgurex.  Their models in N, O and G are handmade in brass in limited quantities.  It's a Deutsch Reishbahn (DR 18) cab#201.  It is very similar to a model made by MTH a couple of years ago.  It was in mint condition with  a $6,000.00 asking  price (make an offer).  A follow up to a company called Reynaulds Trains which sells only European models said this loco probably sold for $10,000 .

He asked me what I paid for it and said that I made a "steal" (it's about time). It comes with lights only and runs under DC power.

I made a couple of counter offers and we agree upon a price.  This model was shipped yesterday to an installer for the installation of DCC, synchronized smoke timed with the drivers and I hope smoke.  Much to my amazement is the fact that this loco is under steam today and ran in 2014 in Germany.

Here is a you tube video showing it in action; watch in HD and enjoy.

Picked up my Ebay stash from my pal. He's a ex-pat Brit so I supply him with British Cadburys chocolate and he looks after my US Ebay train stuff till I visit.

I had quiet a few boxes .... imagine the scene from Radiers of the Lost Arc the one with the box in the warehouse and you get the idea he said

Really like the semi-scale cars from 1990/91 I managed to get to go with my 1-700e

Nick

At the Edison NJ World's Greatest Hobby show, where we had a booth, my daughter and 3 grandchildren came to visit me and the wife.  We bought them Lego stuff, little furry things that run all over the floor of the house, puzzles, toy airplanes, toy trucks, other odd ball toys, cotton candy, chocolate, pickles [from the pickle man] and other goofy things. NO TRAINS--they had no interest in them.  Maybe that is why so many non-train items were being sold in the place.  We did not try the fried Oreos!!!

Last week, I purchased a K-line F-7 A & B set from a fellow forumite.  Now, I have the perfect completion to my passenger train.  I started buying the cars about 5 years ago.  The cars are MTH Railking and are decorated in a C & O-influenced B & O paint scheme.  For years, I waited for a suitable locomotive set to pull this train.  The wait was worth it.  Thank you , Jeff!

Unique, absolutely  gorgeous and will run on DCC...Congrats!

I assume most folks have never seen one of these: Model Railroader, Volume 1, number 1 issue!

Scored it off eBay and it arrived last night. It's in a bound volume of the entire first year of MR from 1934. I couldn't resist as I'd never even seen one before and the price was very afforable. I'm surprised it went for so little...
